Patent number: 9242727Abstract: Embodiments of the inventive concepts disclosed herein may provide visual and audible flight direction cues to the pilot of a helicopter to maintain an optimum energy sustaining profile to successfully perform an autorotation maneuver. From the moment the engine fails or fails to provide adequate power to the main rotor system, systems described herein provide airspeed, attitude, and altitude guidance to the pilot to intercept and fly the correct path for a successful autorotation entry and autorotation descent. The system displays specific cues as the helicopter approaches the determined flare altitude and guides the pilot through the autorotation flare and minimum rate of descent touchdown.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2014Date of Patent: January 26, 2016Assignee: Rockwell Collins, Inc.Inventors: Jorge A. Patent number: 9138982Abstract: A method and systems to control the temperature of a Keyless inker for variable data lithography printing. Inker heating elements are adjustable to control ink feed to individual zones located across the width of an ink roller. Feedforward and feedback control loops adjust the ink supply dynamically based on a pixel count of the image content. The pixel count looks ahead in the video stream to allow time for the adjustment at the inker heating elements to propagate through the inker unit to affect ink output onto the imaging drum surface. Feedback of the achieved ink density on control patches on the imaging drum is also used to command the inker heating elements. Feedback is also used to update the inker propagation delay and dynamic model used to determine how much the inker keys need to be adjusted based on the pixel count stream.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2012Date of Patent: September 22, 2015Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Peter Paul, Jorge A. Alvarez, Nancy Y. Jia, Charles Donahue Rizzolo, Augusto E. Barton

Patent number: 8508791Abstract: A power saving apparatus and method for imaging modules in a variable data lithography system is provided. The imaging modules are arranged adjacent to each other to project a scan line of imaging data on a rotating imaging member in a variable data lithography system. The imaging module includes a look ahead buffer which stores imaging data and from which the stored data is read out for projection on the imaging member. The power saving apparatus uses an image look ahead concept to save part of the power consumed in the imaging modules in the projection mode of operation by selectively powering each laser source based on the imaging data in the look ahead buffer.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2012Date of Patent: August 13, 2013Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Peter Paul, Jorge A. Publication number: 20120282478Abstract: The present invention pertains to a process for depositing multi-component and nanostructured thin films. Various parameters are monitored during the process to produce the structure of the thin films, on one hand the residence time of the gas mixture in the reactor is controlled by the pumping rate, on the other side to generate the plasma direct current (DC) or radio frequency (RF) sources are used, plus the combination of three unbalanced magnetrons allows alternative emission of elements that make up the multi-component and nanostructured films. The process is monitored by an optical emission spectrometer (EOE) and a Langmuir probe (SL), the EOE can follow the emission corresponding to the electronic transitions of atoms and molecules in the plasma. Emissions occur in the visible, infrared and ultraviolet domains. The relationships between spectral networks of different elements have been identified that ensure structural characteristics of thin films.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 1, 2010Publication date: November 8, 2012Applicant: INSTITUTO TECNOLOGICO Y DE ESTUDIOS SUPERIORES DE MONTERREYInventors: Joaquín Oseguera Peña, Alejandro Rojo Valerio, Jorge Alberto Acosta Flores, Olimpia Salas Martinez, Dulce Viridiana Melo Maximo, Jorge Alvarez Diaz
