  • Publication number: 20030223787
Abstract: A printing apparatus includes a guide member for directing sheets toward a transfer zone. The guide member defines a set of ribs which hold the sheets above the main surface of the guide member. Thus, any stray marking material which lands on the guide member is relatively unlikely to contact a sheet moving over the guide member.

  • Patent number: 5979424
Abstract: A toy gun can be equipped with a specially configured ram for firing air-filled or water-filled balloons. The forward surface of the ram has a hemi-spheric contour, so that the ram has extensive surface area engagement with the balloon rear surface. When the ram is fired forwardly the balloon is subjected to relatively low unit area acceleration forces, so that the balloon has a lessened likelihood of rupture or excessive deformation.

  • Patent number: 5795532
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a magnetic roll, including the steps of: molding a roll core with ferrite filled resin material to a first diameter; allowing the ferrite filled resin material to become hard; overmolding said roll core with ferrite filled resin material to a second diameter; and cooling the ferrite filled resin material until it becomes hard. The core is magnetized during said molding step and said overmolding step. The method may further include enclosing the core within a sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5450169
Abstract: A system for sealing a member mounted in a support to rotate about an axis thereof and being at least partially in a chamber of a housing with magnetic particles being disposed at least in a region between the housing and the member. The system includes a magnetic member including a plurality of magnetic poles with magnetization axes extending in a direction substantially transverse to the axis of the member.

  • Patent number: 5436703
Abstract: A development unit for electrostatic printing is designed to eliminate used developer at a steady rate. A barrier mounted in the housing defines in the housing a first chamber adapted to store a supply of developer material therein, and a second chamber adapted to receive excess developer material from the first chamber of the housing. A transport is mounted in the second chamber, for advancing developer material from the barrier.

  • Patent number: 5416566
Abstract: A development apparatus includes a housing defining a chamber holding a supply of two-component developer material consisting of toner, and magnetizable carrier beads. The development apparatus also includes an extended life, increased reliability magnetic roll assembly within the housing for repeatably transporting a desired quantity of attracted developer material, fed from the chamber, for movement through the development zone. The improved magnetic roll assembly includes a rotatable non-conductive shell or substrate surrounding a magnetic member so as to prevent the creation of eddy currents in the substrate during its rotation. The substrate has an elastomeric coating layer formed over it. The elastomeric coating layer has a mechanically deformable smooth surface for effectively holding, even at relatively high rates of speed, the quantity of attracted developer material thereon being transported.

  • Patent number: 5283617
Abstract: An electrophotographic printing machine in which an electrostatic latent image is recorded on a moving photoconductive surface by charging the appropriate areas of the surface to predetermined polarities. The latent image is a developed in a development zone with toners of a preselected color and predetermined polarity which are delivered by magnetic bead carriers. A bead removal device is provided adjacent the surface and downstream from the development zone relative to the movement of the surface. The bead removal device magnetically attracts carrier beads off the photoconductive surface. The beads are then deposited in a sump. A vacuum source is also provided for urging beads into the sump from the surface. The bead removal device comprising a sleeve mounted for rotation in a housing, adjacent the surface. The sleeve has a fixed magnet disposed proximate the surface therein and a shunt disposed generally opposite the magnet to define an attraction zone and a release zone.

  • Patent number: 5280323
Abstract: An electrophotographic printing machine in which an electrostatic latent image is recorded on a photoconductive surface by charging the appropriate areas of the surface to predetermined polarities. The latent image is a developed with toners of a preselected color and predetermined polarity by a developer unit. The developer unit includes a bead removal device which magnetically attracts carrier beads off the photoconductive surface and deposits these beads in a sump or reservoir of developer. The bead removal device includes a magnet and magnetic field shapers to enhance the magnetic fields which attract the beads in the zone between the surface and the bead removal device and attenuates the magnetic fields in the zone between the bead removal device and the sump or reservoir to reduce the attraction between the beads and the bead removal device in this zone.

  • Patent number: 4701150
Abstract: A toy automobile and a toy filling station forming a set. The automobile has a self contained power plant, including a battery and a motor. To drive the automobile, water is introduced into a container in the automobile, simulating gasoline fuel, which causes an expandable member to expand which closes a switch to energize the motor. The automobile also includes a quantity of black powder that the water mixes with and produces a black liquid that simulates lubricating oil. The filling station includes a tank of water for introducing into the automobile. The filling station also includes an air pump for pressuring the water in the tank. The air pump also serves as a standard for simulating an advertising display.
