  • Patent number: 8506606
Abstract: A stabilization device is provided including an axle and a portion that can be affixed to a bone. The device is used to stabilize a joint while allowing motion of the joint along its natural trajectory and it is placed internally in order to prevent pin tract problems. Additionally, methods for using the device are provided that include, in various sequences, inserting the axle into a bone of a joint, adjusting the geometry of the device and attaching the fixable portion to another bone of the joint. The device can be provided as part of a system including an axis trajectory guide useful for locating the axis of rotation of the joint prior to insertion, adjustment and attachment of the device.

  • Patent number: 8403967
Abstract: A volar fixation system includes a plate intended to be positioned against the volar side of the radial bone. The plate includes holes for receiving fasteners along a fixed axis relative to the plate. The plate is positioned against the radius bone, and a portion of the plate is preliminarily fixed to the radius bone. The fracture is reduced, and a plurality of fasteners are each inserted through a respective plate hole so as to extend immediately below the subchondral bone of the radius bone and is fixed in axial relationship relative to the plate. Together the fasteners form a stabilizing construct that conforms to the concave curvature of the articular surface of the radius bone.

  • Patent number: 8388689
Abstract: A prosthesis is provided for replacing a portion of a bone making up a joint. The prosthesis is adapted, intraoperatively, to optimize the anatomical alignment of the prosthesis in the joint. In particular, a jig is used to identify the axis of rotation of the joint intraoperatively and to align a portion of the prosthesis with the identified axis. The angle of the head of the prosthesis is adjusted to optimize contact with the appropriate corresponding portions of the joint, at which point the position of the head is fixed to prevent further rotation of the head relative to the remainder of the prosthesis.

  • Publication number: 20110166571
Abstract: A fixation plate includes a set of threaded peg holes adapted to individually receive fixation pegs therethrough and non-threaded alignment holes having a relatively smaller diameter than the peg holes and preferably sized to closely receive a K-wire. The alignment holes are located between the peg holes. One peg hole is configured for aligning the plate during an osteotomy procedure, while other peg holes are configured for use after fracture reduction and receive K-wires to temporarily secure the plate to the bone and determine whether pegs inserted through adjacent respective peg holes will be properly located before drilling relatively larger holes for such pegs.
