  • Publication number: 20070230723
Abstract: An improved media delivery apparatus is disclosed. The media delivery apparatus can, for example, be a portable speaker system. In one embodiment, the media delivery apparatus is used with a portable media player. According to one aspect, audio output characteristics of a media delivery apparatus can be controlled based on whether a removable component is attached or detached. Another aspect pertains to improved techniques to attach a removable component to a media delivery apparatus. According to still another aspect a portion of a housing of an electrical device, such as a media delivery apparatus, can be utilized as part of a connector or plug.

  • Publication number: 20070082097
Abstract: An apparatus and method of cooking particulate food material includes circulating particulate food material in a heated cooking solution within a cooking tank. The cooking solution is heated by continuously injecting steam into the cooking tank to cook the particulate solution. Additional cooking solution is added to the cooking tank each time particulate food material is to be added to the cooking tank to replace cooking solution lost after cooked particulate food material has been removed from the cooking tank. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. • Publication number: 20070074006
Abstract: A technique known as checkpointed early load retirement, combines register checkpointing load-value prediction to manage long-latency loads. When a long-latency load reaches the retirement stage unresolved, the processor enters Clear mode by (1) taking a Checkpoint of the architectural registers, (2) supplying a load-value prediction to consumers, and (3) early-retiring the long-latency load. This unclogs retirement, thereby “clearing the way” for subsequent instructions to retire, and also allowing instructions dependent on the long-latency load to execute sooner. When the actual value returns from memory, it is compared against the prediction. A misprediction causes the processor to roll back to the checkpoint, discarding all subsequent computation.

  • Publication number: 20070048862
Abstract: The vectors comprise a recombinant defective viral genome expressing at least one antigen suitable for the induction of systemic and secretory immune responses or an antibody conferring protection against an infectious agent. The defective viral genome comprises the genome of a parental virus having the viral replicase recognition signals located on ends 3? and 5?, further comprising internal deletions, and wherein said defective viral genome depends on a helper virus for its replication and encapsidation. These vectors are suitable for the forming of a recombinant system comprising the aforesaid expression vector, and a helper virus. The system is suitable for the manufacture of mono- and polyvalent vaccines against infectious agents of different animal species, especially pigs, dogs and cats, and as expression vehicles for antibodies protective against infectious agents.

  • Publication number: 20060289423
Abstract: A mirror heater assembly that eliminates the adhesive layer used for attaching the heater to the back plate includes, in one embodiment, a back plate having one or more slots formed or cut into the back plate. The slots further define one or more protrusions. The heater may include one or more slits cut into the heater. The slits may receive the protrusions and the protrusions will hold the heater onto the back plate. Other non-adhesive techniques of the mirror heater assembly of the invention that may be used to attach the heater to the back plate may include, by way of illustration, heat staking, fasteners, pins, posts, insert molding, and ultrasonic welding. The other side of the heater may be adhesively applied to the mirror through the use of a double-sided adhesive layer that on one side is applied over the heater and on the other side is applied to the mirror.

  • Publication number: 20060281968
Abstract: Among the four heart valves, the mitral is the most frequently affected by disease resulting in defective valve opening (stenosis) or incomplete closure (insufficiency). Most often this is due to distortion of the valve apparatus secondary to rheumatic or degenerative disease. These lesions, called “organic” require open heart surgery. In patients with coronary disease or with dilated cardiomyopathy the mitral valve can be insufficient although structurally normal. These valves are “functionally” insufficient. Because of the poor condition of these patients where open heart surgery carries a significant operative risk, less invasive percutaneous alternatives are being explored today. The present novel invention represents a radical departure from other procedures because it repositions the posterior papillary muscle utilizing a device located in the interventricular veins.

  • Publication number: 20060107334
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide for flexible monitoring of content. The content at a client device can be monitored based on the use and actions performed by the client. In order to monitor the content at the client, a dependency is created between any recipient of the content and a monitor installed at the client device. For example, the content may be encrypted and, when the content is accessed by a potential recipient, the recipient may be required to request a key from the monitor. This activates the monitor to begin recording transaction data and events about the content's use, such as the recipient's identity and the type of actions performed. The monitor can be configured to passively monitor and record the use of the content at the client's device. In addition, the monitor can be configured to provide audit data that indicates the transaction data recorded to a server.
