  • Patent number: 7503668
Abstract: A flameless candle that releases a volatile active includes at least one LED positioned in a tip (106), a cartridge mount (128), and a support structure (102, 141). The at least one LED emits a flickering light that emulates a flame of a candle. The cartridge mount (128) receives and secures a replaceable cartridge (104a) containing a volatile active to be released into the atmosphere over time. The support structure (120, 141) supports the at least one LED and the cartridge mount (128). The support structure (120, 141) is configured to allow airflow across the replaceable cartridge (104a) when the replaceable cartridge (104a) is mounted in the cartridge mount (128).

  • Patent number: 7318659
Abstract: A replacement device for a light bulb includes a translucent shell and a base. The base supports a plurality of LEDs positioned so as to emit a light show through the shell. The base is configured to be received in a conventional light socket. The base also includes a compartment for receiving and securing a replaceable volatile active cartridge and a heater for enabling the device to effectively emit an active ingredient from the cartridge when the cartridge is secured in the compartment. A white light source is also provided in the shell as a source of illumination. The device can be used as a white light source, for displaying a colored light show and for volatile active emission. The volatile active may be emitted continuously when the device is used as either a white light source or for purposes of displaying a colored light show. Thus, a single device is used as a replacement for a conventional light bulb and is a combination white light source/colored light show source/volatile active source.

  • Publication number: 20050195598
Abstract: The present invention is directed toward apparatuses, devices, methods, kits, programs, and combinations to disperse and/or project light and/or an active material. For example, in one embodiment of the present invention where a light effect of glowing, diffuse, and projected light is desired, one lens is provided that diffuses light in one section of the lens and is substantially clear in another section to allow substantially all the light to pass through the lens. In other embodiments to obtain the same effect, one or more lenses diffuse light while one or more other lenses are clear to allow substantially all the light to pass through the lens.
