Patent number: 6544471Abstract: An apparatus for producing steels with predominantly high Cr content and/or ferro-alloys, wherein the metal charge is melted in a melting crucible, is alloyed, refined and reduced, and wherein process gases are simultaneously supplied through bottom nozzles. A melting crucible is used with a specific reaction volume of 0.4 to 1.5 m3/t steel and the injection rates of the process gases are controlled in the range of 0.1 to 3.0 N m3/t/min. The solid charge material is melted by an electric arc and air/nitrogen are injected simultaneously and, after forming a liquid sump, a gas mixture of oxygen and inert gas is injected. After adding slag-forming constituents and alloying agents, the oxygen throughput is increased and the power of the electric arc is reduced accordingly. The oxygen throughput is reduced in relation to the inert gas during refining and decarburization takes place as a result of increasing the electric arc with low chromium slag formation.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2000Date of Patent: April 8, 2003Assignee: SMS Schloemann-Siemag AktiengesellschaftInventors: Wei-Ping Wu, Karl-Heinz Deppner, Karl-Josef Schneider

Publication number: 20030056772Abstract: The invention relates to a method for cooling the charge air of an internal combustion engine. The charge-air cooler is arranged with a pump and a heat exchanger in a coolant circuit. The temperature of the charge air is detected via a temperature sensor and passed on to a regulating unit. As a function of this temperature and, if appropriate, of further engine operating parameters, the regulating unit controls the pump and, if included, the fan of the heat exchanger. Thus, in particular, when the engine is started cold or at a partial load, a higher charge-air temperature can be permitted by switching off or throttle the pump and/or the fan. This not only better matches the charge-air temperature to the engine operation, but also saves on energy for the operation of the pump and/or the fan.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2002Publication date: March 27, 2003Inventors: Dirk Borrmann, Franz-Josef Schneider, Klemens Grieser, Michael Tobergte

Patent number: 6424366Abstract: A method for reversible imaging of a printing form is provided included feeding a coated transfer film between a printing form and an image information transfer unit having a transfer head. A surface of the printing form is then imaged using image data oriented activation to transfer the transfer film coating in the form of image spots to the printing form. The transfer film is removed from between the printing form and the image information transfer unit. The transferred image spots are fixed on the printing form by re-imaging or fixing the image spots using image data oriented activation. Remaining image information from the printing form is removed or erased once the printing operation is complete so that the printing form is capable of being used in a subsequent printing operation. A device for performing the method is also provided. Optionally, a single laser beam or a plurality of laser beams may be used in the device.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 2000Date of Patent: July 23, 2002Assignee: MAN Roland Druckmaschinen AGInventors: Dirk Probian, Josef Schneider
