  • Patent number: 7503915
Abstract: A device for the treatment of a medical fluid including a permanently installed fluid treatment machine and a cassette with fluid-carrying channels as well as an elastic matt placed between these two items. The matt channels are recessed in the elastic matt and are provided with slits. Via the matt channels, an optimised vacuum distribution takes place and the slits serve the purpose of removing air between the cassette and the fluid treatment machine.

  • Patent number: 7488301
Abstract: A method for the return of blood from a blood treatment apparatus, preferably from a dialysis apparatus, uses a pumped substituate fluid to displace the blood. A substituate pump contained in the treatment apparatus displaces the blood by means of the correspondingly transported substituate fluid until it is detected in corresponding detectors that substituate fluid is flowing back in the line instead of blood. Once the transported substituate fluid has been detected, the blood volume is further displaced in a controlled manner until it has reached the line outlet of the corresponding line.

  • Patent number: 7044432
Abstract: A valve for the closure of fluid channels, in particular for use in disposable cartridges for extracorporeal circulations, having a valve body with a pressure channel, and a sealing cap, which can cooperate with the valve body in such a way that it closes off the end of the pressure channel on the valve body side against the surroundings. The valve is designed in such a way that a pressure chamber can be formed between the pressure channel and the sealing cap, and the sealing cap has a deformable sealing area for entry into a fluid channel in order to close the latter. The valve may be incorporated within a device for use with a disposable cartridge for at least one fluid channel.

  • Patent number: 6645166
Abstract: A blood treatment device, in particular a dialysis machine, which permits both single-needle and dual-needle operation. The device has a blood treatment unit, in particular a dialyzer that has an inlet connected to a feed line and an outlet connected to a return line. The feed line has two parallel line branches with a positive displacement pump being connected into the first and second line branches. To produce a fluid connection between the outlet of the dialyzer and one of the two pumps, a connection line is provided. For dual-needle operation, the feed and return lines are connected to an arterial and a venous needle. For single-needle operation, the feed and return lines are brought together and connected to a common needle. The connection line permits single-needle operation without great changes to the structure of the blood treatment device.

  • Patent number: 5871694
Abstract: In a device for providing a substituate to a device for removing toxic substances from the blood which employs volumetric balancing of the fluid, an equalization chamber (11, 20) communicates with first and second inlet lines (9, 18) respectively, of a balancing chamber (14). Moreover, a buffer chamber (23) communicates with the first and/or second outlet line (15, 22) of the balancing chamber (14). The volume prevailing in the buffer chamber (23) that communicates with the first or second outlet line (15 or 22) can be so varied that the volume expands when the second or first equalization chamber (20 or 11) is emptied, and is reduced when the second or first equalization chamber is filled. As a result, the discontinuous pulse is smoothed on the outlet side of the balancing chamber.

  • Patent number: 5836908
Abstract: A disposable balancing unit designed as a sheet bag includes two sheets (1, 2), which are heat-sealed together, forming a balancing chamber (4) that is divided by a flexible wall (8) into the two chamber halves (9, 10), and forming two equalization chambers (5, 6), as well as the channels (15 through 18) connecting the individual chambers. The flexible wall (8), which separates the first chamber half (9) of the balancing chamber (4) from the second chamber half (10), is formed by an intermediate sheet, which is inserted between the first and second sheet (1, 2) in the area of the balancing volume and is heat-sealed in a pressure-tight manner to the outer sheets, forming the first and second chamber half (9, 10). The fixed volume of the balancing chamber halves (9, 10) is specified by a corresponding system insert unit, into which the disposable unit is fittingly inserted.
