  • Publication number: 20080268823
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for personalized information retrieval related to identified objects, prompted by a coded activation message (AM), containing Object Identifiers (OIs), and necessary message-source's identifiers. Decoded AMs identify the required information recipients and their communication devices (RIDs) and direct a communication server to a site containing identified object-related information, formatted for personalized delivery defined by RID features and preset preferences of relevant entities. The PCWS interactively monitors and directs information flow through selected, preferred communication links, reestablishing flow upon disruptions or per AMs. Alternatively, the system can include sensors for detecting events associated with relevant objects and potential recipients, and submitting AMs on behalf of relevant recipients. Recipients can use keypad or voice commands for online interactive remote-control of PCWS information retrieval, routing and storage.

  • Publication number: 20080059605
Abstract: System and methods are disclosed for employing personalized switching and routing Communication Web Server (PCWS), enabling prompt activation, maintaining, monitoring and documenting of personalized communication processes, created and stored by PCWS authorized users, using PCWS guided procedure. Processes are either adopted for personalization from qualified process libraries offered by the PCWS, or customized by users utilizing the PCWS software. Thus, unskilled users can personalize complex “soft-switch” tasks for optimizing communication processes through a multitude of alternative channels, networks and devices with one or many communicating entities. The system's processes can be programmed to transfer information in forms such as audio, data, or video.

  • Publication number: 20080052083
Abstract: Systems and methods of creating and utilizing audio-marking of specific information items for pointing at the existence of Additional Information and Processes (AIPs) related to such information items and, when required, activating preset links to such specific AIPs. The invention describes processes and methods that enable authorized creation, insertion and activation of Audio-based Marking-Signals (“AMSs”) in association with streaming or playing of audio-related information files, containing the Marked Information Items (MIIs), for enabling precise identification and activation of identified accessible links to AIPs related to the MIIs. Users of the system and methods, who operate communication devices and are able to sense the AMSs, can correlate the AMS existence and type to a specific MII, and, if interested, activate links to specific MII-related AIPs, using short command messages for receiving the relevant information or activating relevant processes.

  • Patent number: 7244631
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of treating a surface of a Micro-Electromechanical System (MEMS) device reduces or eliminates performance degradation due to charge migration and accumulation. Briefly, the method may include treating a dielectric surface of the MEMS device to replace hydroxyl groups with electrically neutral molecules, thereby converting the dielectric surface from a hydrophilic to a substantially hydrophobic nature. A MEMS device having a surface treated using the aforementioned method is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6865346
Abstract: A fiber optic transceiver capable of bi-directional communication comprises an incoming optical (downlink) signal, a detector comprising a detecting surface configured to detect a detected portion of the incoming optical signal that strikes the detecting surface, and a light modulator for modulating a reflected (uplink) signal. The reflected signal comprises a reflected portion of the incoming signal. The light modulator comprises a controllable reflection member for modulating the reflected signal, and a controller configured to control the controllable reflection member. The controllable reflection member implements micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology wherein micro-reflective surfaces are physically positioned or oriented by the control signal, thereby affecting reflection and diffraction in such a way as to modulate the intensity of light entering an uplink channel.

  • Patent number: 6850502
Abstract: A join process is disclosed for a wireless mesh topology network. In the network, nodes have multiple spatial coverage sub-sectors together covering a larger sector angle and a node can establish connection with other nodes located in directions covered by its sub-sectors. The join process adds a joining node to the network and includes having the joining node listen to sub-sectors at a specific receiving frequency for a defined time. Thereafter, the network node changes its sub sectors and its receiving frequencies according to a defined timing and sequence. Active network nodes transmit organized invitation data packets on defined sectors, frequencies and timing, based on relative location and relative angle orientation deduced from sub-sectors already in use for existing internal network communication. This reduces frequency interference in the network and reduces time required for the join process.

  • Patent number: 6839479
Abstract: An optical switch comprises a substrate, first and second optical waveguide, and first and second conducting elements. The first optical waveguide is coupled to the substrate. The first conducting element is coupled to the first optical waveguide. The second optical waveguide is coupled to the substrate. The second conducting element is coupled to the second optical waveguide. In operation, a first electrical bias applied between the first and second conducting elements causes the first optical waveguide to not optically couple to the second optical waveguide. Further in operation, a second electric bias applied between the first and second conducting elements causes the first optical waveguide to optically couple to the second optical waveguide.
