  • Publication number: 20080232917
Abstract: A rail loading train for transporting long welded rails includes a device at the end of the rail loading train for anchoring the rails. The device includes a plurality of insertion devices each being provided for anchoring a single rail and having an inserting opening and a rail stop. Each insertion device has two clamping jaws which are spaced from one another in a direction extending perpendicularly to a rail web of the rail to be clamped, for forming the inserting opening. At least one clamping jaw is equipped with a clamping device for contacting the rail web and for automatic force-locking connection to said rail web, effective against a direction of insertion. Both clamping jaws are constructed for being spaced from one another for releasing the force-locking connection to the rail web.

  • Patent number: 6375402
Abstract: An apparatus for unloading rails from a freight car on which the rails are arrayed to extend in a longitudinal direction of the freight car comprises a track-bound car, and a rail guiding unit positioned at each car end. Each rail guiding unit comprises a pair of rail guide heads having guide rollers for centering a respective one of the rails therebetween. The rail guide heads of a first rail guiding unit are positioned at one of the car ends and are displaceable in a horizontal plane perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction, and drives are provided for vertically adjusting the rail guide heads of the first rail guiding unit.

  • Patent number: 5762464
Abstract: A car for loading and unloading elongated rails comprises a frame supported on a track by undercarriages, the frame defining at least one clearance between the undercarriages for permitting the elongated rails to be guided therethrough, a guiding roller arrangement arranged to guide a respective one of the elongated rails through the clearance between the track plane and a loading plane above the frame, the guiding roller arrangement being positioned in the clearance, and two rails for supporting a crane, the rails being affixed to the frame and extending in the longitudinal direction, the rails being spaced from each other in a direction extending transversely to the longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 5735734
Abstract: Apparatus for grinding rails of a track, includes a carrier frame which has roller-type tracers adapted for mobility on the track and is swingably mounted to a support frame for rotation about a pivot axis oriented longitudinally in direction of the rail. The support frame is provided with rollers which can roll on the track, with each roller and each tracer having a roller tread. A guide member which is adapted for bearing upon a vertical side of the rail head is secured to the support frame and adjustable with respect to the carrier frame wherein at a horizontal disposition, the rotational axis of each tracer is in parallel relationship with the rotational axis of each roller, with the roller tread surface on contact with the rail defining a roller contact area which in the horizontal disposition of the tracer is disposed at a vertically elevated position in relation to a roller contact area defined by the tracer tread surface on contact with the rail.

  • Patent number: 5630365
Abstract: A rail loading train for transporting as well as loading and unloading long rails, includes a number of loading cars coupled together and having a frame which has a longitudinal axis and is supported on undercarriages for movement in an operating direction. Mounted on the loading cars are a plurality of rail supports which are spaced from each other longitudinally in direction of the frame and respectively rotatably mounted on support columns. Each rail support includes a separate pivot drive for swinging the rail support about a vertical axis between a receiving position in which the rail support extends perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and an idle position in which the rail support extends in direction of the longitudinal axis, whereby the position of the rail support in each end position is automatically secured by a locking mechanism once the swinging motion is concluded.

  • Patent number: 5575709
Abstract: A rail grinding machine for grinding rails of a track includes a machine frame with rollers for support on both rails of the track and a swivel drive for swingably mounting a carrier frame to the machine frame for rotation about a pivot axis which extends longitudinally in direction of the track. A grinder is adjustably secured to the carrier frame in an area of one rail, with a drive motor for supplying energy to the swivel drive and the grinder being secured to the machine frame at an area distant to the carrier frame. The distance of the carrier frame and its pivot axis from a support roller located opposite to the grinder is reducible by a length compensation unit which includes a pressure-exerting element for applying in opposition to the distance reduction a force by which the grinder is pressed against a rail head inner flank of the rail being ground.
