Patent number: 6375402Abstract: An apparatus for unloading rails from a freight car on which the rails are arrayed to extend in a longitudinal direction of the freight car comprises a track-bound car, and a rail guiding unit positioned at each car end. Each rail guiding unit comprises a pair of rail guide heads having guide rollers for centering a respective one of the rails therebetween. The rail guide heads of a first rail guiding unit are positioned at one of the car ends and are displaceable in a horizontal plane perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction, and drives are provided for vertically adjusting the rail guide heads of the first rail guiding unit.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2000Date of Patent: April 23, 2002Assignees: Robel Bahnbaumaschinen GmbH, Voest-Alpine Schïenen GmbH & Co. Patent number: 5735734Abstract: Apparatus for grinding rails of a track, includes a carrier frame which has roller-type tracers adapted for mobility on the track and is swingably mounted to a support frame for rotation about a pivot axis oriented longitudinally in direction of the rail. The support frame is provided with rollers which can roll on the track, with each roller and each tracer having a roller tread. A guide member which is adapted for bearing upon a vertical side of the rail head is secured to the support frame and adjustable with respect to the carrier frame wherein at a horizontal disposition, the rotational axis of each tracer is in parallel relationship with the rotational axis of each roller, with the roller tread surface on contact with the rail defining a roller contact area which in the horizontal disposition of the tracer is disposed at a vertically elevated position in relation to a roller contact area defined by the tracer tread surface on contact with the rail.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1996Date of Patent: April 7, 1998Assignee: Georg Robel GmbH & Co.Inventor: Josef Hertelendi

Patent number: 5630365Abstract: A rail loading train for transporting as well as loading and unloading long rails, includes a number of loading cars coupled together and having a frame which has a longitudinal axis and is supported on undercarriages for movement in an operating direction. Mounted on the loading cars are a plurality of rail supports which are spaced from each other longitudinally in direction of the frame and respectively rotatably mounted on support columns. Each rail support includes a separate pivot drive for swinging the rail support about a vertical axis between a receiving position in which the rail support extends perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and an idle position in which the rail support extends in direction of the longitudinal axis, whereby the position of the rail support in each end position is automatically secured by a locking mechanism once the swinging motion is concluded.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1995Date of Patent: May 20, 1997Assignee: Georg Robel GmbH & Co.Inventor: Josef Hertelendi

Patent number: 5575709Abstract: A rail grinding machine for grinding rails of a track includes a machine frame with rollers for support on both rails of the track and a swivel drive for swingably mounting a carrier frame to the machine frame for rotation about a pivot axis which extends longitudinally in direction of the track. A grinder is adjustably secured to the carrier frame in an area of one rail, with a drive motor for supplying energy to the swivel drive and the grinder being secured to the machine frame at an area distant to the carrier frame. The distance of the carrier frame and its pivot axis from a support roller located opposite to the grinder is reducible by a length compensation unit which includes a pressure-exerting element for applying in opposition to the distance reduction a force by which the grinder is pressed against a rail head inner flank of the rail being ground.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 1995Date of Patent: November 19, 1996Assignee: Franz Plasser Bahnbaumaschinen-Industrieges.m.b.H.Inventors: Josef Hertelendi, Sebastian Kreuzeder, Bruno Strobl
