A first brake shoe is movable between a braking position, pressing the cable against the braking surface of the other brake shoe, and a release position, releasing the cable between the brake shoes. A releasable retaining device retains the first brake shoe in the release position, and/or a reset device switches the first brake shoe from the braking position to the release position. Two rotatably mounted pivot arms connected to the first brake shoe are arranged in a parallelogram with one side oriented in parallel with the cable guidance direction. A switchable electromagnet of the retaining device holds the first brake shoe in the release position. The brake shoes, pivot arms, retaining device and reset device are arranged in a housing connected to an elevator car.

    Abstract: An elevator system caliper brake includes first and second brake levers each with a brake pad wherein the brake levers move the brake pads relative to one another along an actuation axis. The first brake lever is rotatably mounted at a stationary first mounting point at a housing of the brake, and the second brake lever is rotatably mounted at a second mounting point on an intermediate lever that is rotatably mounted at the brake housing. A tension element can be moved approximately parallel to an actuation axis and is connected to the brake levers at mounting points between the respective brake pads and the brake lever mounting points. A closing spring moves the first and second brake levers to decrease the distance between the brake pads and a linear spindle drive connected to the intermediate lever selectively counteracts the closing spring to increase the distance between the brake pads.

The second leg is connected to a second pivot of the pressure lever. A third pivot of the pressure lever is connected to an articulation point of an actuating element (crank rod) whereby a longitudinal movement of the actuating element moves the brake device between a braking position with the brake ends spaced apart a minimum distance, and an opened position with the brake ends spaced apart a maximum distance. The braking devices include a brake housing, a first brake body movable by contact with the braking web and relative movement between the braking web and the brake housing to clamp the brake web, and a pusher arranged on the brake housing with the braking web arranged between the first brake body and the pusher with a required passage clearance. The pusher can be advanced toward the first brake body and pressed against the braking web to forcibly bring the first brake body into contact with the braking web. A pressing lever pivotally mounted on the brake housing acts to press the pusher against the braking web.
