Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and software programs which are used to facilitate the flow of information in terms of functionalities in the domain of at least one service provider, in particular of a multimedia message in the UMTS, this functionality having been requested by a subscriber (for example, reply charging or recall of the message), wherein the present invention proposes transmitting information which reveals whether implicated network units in the domain of service providers support the requested functionality and proposes limiting the maximum size of the reply messages for reply charging.

Abstract: Given that a sender of a multimedia message is generally unclear about the whereabouts of the message if the message has first been stored in a mailbox for the receiver and the receiver has neither been able to be notified about this message in the mailbox nor has downloaded the message, a connection unit associated with the receiver produces a notification which is then sent to a sender connection unit and on to the sender, and the type of notification required by the sender, or other, can be coded in the header of the send request in which the sender sends the multimedia message, wherein the receiver receives individual feedback about the whereabouts of the multimedia message.

Abstract: A method is provided for setting up a communications link between a first terminal, which is connected to a network based on an Internet protocol, and a second terminal, which is likewise connected to a network based on an Internet protocol. The method involves connecting a storage medium on which the IP address of the second terminal is stored to the first terminal. The storage medium then reads in the IP address of the second terminal, and finally a communications link is set up from the first terminal to the second terminal over the network using the IP address which has been read. By virtue of the IP addresses of a user's terminals being stored in the storage medium, the user merely needs to insert the storage medium into one of the terminals in order to set up a communications link between two of his/her terminals, the IP address of the further terminal being automatically read out for the communications link without the user needing to remember one of the IP addresses.

Abstract: The present invention provides a detection method in which a CDMA-coded data signal is transmitted in the form of a data stream of spread data bursts between a transmitter and a receiver, hierarchical CDMA codes being used for the transmission. In a second step, codes having a larger spreading factor than in the previous step are detected, the detection results of the first step being taken into account.
