Abstract: Conjugated polymers containing ansa substructures and their use as electroluminescence materials.Conjugated polymers containing ansa substructures, which contain aromatic groups and in which adjacent aromatic groups are connected to one another in such a way that one ring atom of one aromatic group is directly linked to one ring atom of the other aromatic group and any further linkages of these two aromatic groups are possible only via a bridge containing at least one tetravalent carbon atom and/or heteroatom.The polymers of the invention having ansa substructures are outstandingly suitable as electroluminescence materials, since they have a very high color purity.

Abstract: Conjugated polymers comprising recurring units of the formula (I), ##STR1## A, B, C, D are identical or different and are each from one to fifteen identical or different arylene and/or heteroarylene and/or vinylene groups which, like the spirobifluorene skeleton itself, may be unsubstituted or substituted;S are identical or different substituents;m, n are 0 or 1.The polymers of the invention having the formula (I) are suitable as electroluminescence materials and have, in particular, a high color purity of the emission.

Abstract: A cycloadduct of the formula ##STR1## is prepared by reacting 2,2'-(2,5-furandiyldimethylidine)bis-propanedinitrile with 8-methoxypheptafulvene to form a tetrahydroazulene intermediate and then heating a solution of the tetrahydroazulene intermediate in a boiling solvent to drive off methanol.

Abstract: The present invention refers to dicyanovinylsubstituted furan derivatives, processes for their production and their application. The new furan derivatives are represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein x.sup.1 and x.sup.2 are equal or different and stand for H, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, halogen, NO.sub.2 or CN.In the general formula I, n may be 0 or 1. In case of n=0, A means e.g. --CH.sub.2 OR.sup.1 (with e.g. R.sup.1 .dbd.H, alkyl or aryl).The compounds according to this invention can be used directly or in the form of their cycloadducts in several applications of electro-optical fields, e.g. for the manufacture of optical data recording systems or organic (electron) conducting materials or electron-transfer catalysts.
