  • Patent number: 8706854
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for creating, organizing, and monitoring computer searches across a large number of networked computers. The system allows individual searches to be created and tailored depending upon specific objectives. Once established, the system permits the search parameters to be subsequently edited as needed. A graphical user interface (GUI) allows users to view established searches and to monitor searches once activated. Search results can also be tabulated by way of the GUI.

  • Publication number: 20140078882
Abstract: The subject disclosure is directed towards a technology that automatically mitigates datacenter failures, instead of relying on human intervention to diagnose and repair the network. Via a mitigation pipeline, when a network failure is detected, a candidate set of components that are likely to be the cause of the failure is identified, with mitigation actions iteratively targeting each component to attempt to alleviate the problem. The impact to the network is estimated to ensure that the redundancy present in the network will be able to handle the mitigation action without adverse disruption to the network.

  • Patent number: 8273276
Abstract: A roller die preformer for use in an extrusion system to form wide extruded components, such as a rubber tire tread, on a surface of a roller. The roller die preformer includes a flow inlet, a flow outlet and a laterally expanding flow channel extending from the flow inlet to the flow outlet. A flow restrictor is configured within the flow channel to urge the flow of material toward the lateral extremities of the flow channel to thereby form an extruded component at the flow outlet having a lateral width which is greater than the lateral width of the flow inlet of the preformer.

  • Publication number: 20120132005
Abstract: Systems and methods for ultrasonically evaluating one or more microstructural material properties of a structural specimen are disclosed. An example system comprises an ultrasonic sensor unit including a plurality of ultrasonic transducers that generate ultrasonic backscatter within the specimen, and an evaluation module that performs an autocorrelation function on the ultrasonic backscatter data. An autocorrelation algorithm is configured to execute a single scattering response (SSR) model that computes second order grain statistics of the structural specimen.

  • Publication number: 20100298104
Abstract: An exercise machine that provides a generally consistent resistive force against a user who walks, steps, or runs away from the machine as part of a strength training exercise program. The machine is built upon a movable frame having transport wheel assemblies that allow the exercise machine to be placed on an indoor floor surface or on the ground outdoors. The frame of the device further supports three parallel spinning assemblies that together allow a length of linear strap attached to the user to run out from the machine and thereafter be retracted or rewound back into the machine. The spinning assemblies include a flywheel assembly, a spool assembly, and a spring assembly, each co-axially arranged on a spin axle extending across the frame. The spring assembly is fixed against the frame and incorporates a coil spring that tightens with the rotation of the spin axle in a first direction (allowing the linear run-out strap to extend out from the spool assembly).

  • Publication number: 20070263399
Abstract: An exterior lighting system of a motor vehicle (10) has headlamps (12) and foglamps (14) for illuminating a field of view. The headlamps have lenses (26) through which light passes to illuminate the field of view and are constructed to alter the light that is directed within the headlamps toward upper zones (26A) of the lenses relative to light that is directed toward lower zones (26B) of the lenses when both headlamps and foglamps are shining onto the field of view so as to attenuate headlight glare that would otherwise be seen by a driver of the vehicle looking toward the field of view in the absence of the light alteration. Various embodiments of inventive headlamps are shown.

  • Publication number: 20060194678
Abstract: A weightlifting apparatus that supports a free weight barbell when activated using two counter-weight controlled support arms that are mechanically attached to a vertical support on a bench press system. The vertical supports each have a slide rail that is mechanically coupled to a locking assembly that acts to release the support arms using buttons. The support arms are attached to independent counterweights or springs by means of a cable. When released by a foot pedal these support arms are elevated by the counterweights. The support arms hold the barbell and prevent it from downward movement via the one-way locking assembly mounted to the support arms. The support arms work independently of one another so that a user may reset each support arm independently.

  • Patent number: 6889278
Abstract: A system and technique provides fast acknowledgement and servicing of interrupt sources coupled to a high latency path of an intermediate node of a computer network. An external device coupled to the high latency path is provided with a separate interrupt signal for each type of interrupt supported by a processor of the intermediate node. Each interrupt signal is directly fed to an interrupt multiplexing device over a first low latency path. The multiplexing device is accessible to the processor through a second low latency path. The external device asserts an interrupt by “pulsing” an appropriate interrupt signal to the multiplexing device. The multiplexing device maintains a current counter for each interrupt signal and increments that counter every time an interrupt pulse is detected. In addition to the counter, the multiplexing device maintains a status bit for each interrupt.

  • Publication number: 20040185132
Abstract: An extruder head for use in forming at least one strip of polymeric material. The extruder head includes a flow channel having a flow inlet end and a flow outlet end. A flow diverter is removably secured within the flow channel of the extruder head. The flow diverter is held securely in place within the flow channel by a fastening mechanism, and the flow diverter can be easily removed from the flow channel for reshaping or reprofiling as may be necessary to achieve a desired velocity profile of polymeric material flow at the flow outlet end of the flow channel.

  • Publication number: 20030064435
Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions and methods for secretion of functional proteins in a soluble form by host cells. In particular, the invention relates to membrane targeting and translocation proteins, MttA, MttB and MttC and to variants and homologs thereof. The membrane targeting and translocation proteins are useful in targeting protein expression to the periplasm of gram negative bacteria and to extracellular media of other host cells. Such expression allows secretion of expressed proteins of interest in a functional and soluble form, thus facilitating purification and increasing the yield of functional proteins of interest.

  • Patent number: 6340123
Abstract: Apparatus for directing the flow of material from a supply source to one or more shaping dies has a flow channel therein. A flow directing insert (34A) located in the downstream region of the flow channel spreads the material toward the outer walls and improves uniformity of flow in an exit zone (40). In the downstream region (11), the channel height is gradually decreased and levels off near the exit. The flow channel may be split into two or mom flow branches (15A, 15B), each flow branch having a flow directing insert (34A) therein.
