  • Publication number: 20230382725
Abstract: The present invention proposes a thermochemical battery cycle, termed a Benzene Battery cycle, for efficiently storing electric and/or thermal energy for later and/or distant use. The methods and apparatus herein proposed utilize reversible endothermic fluid and exothermic fluid thermochemical means for efficiently storing H2 in a liquid state at STP. The present invention is generally based on the technology disclosed in U.S. Pat. Nos. 3,225,538, 3,067,594, and 3,871,179, wherein techniques are described for creating a unique thermochemical cycle, termed the Bland/Ewing Cycle (B/E Cycle) after the co-inventors, involving “molecular expansion” and “molecular compression”. The present invention is also based on US Patent Application #18-0954634 which proposes optimizing endothermic and exothermic “segments” for the creation of either Combined Heat and Power (CHP) or Combined Cycle (CC) applications.

  • Publication number: 20220313294
Abstract: An intravascular articulating retrieval apparatus may be used to move objects within the vasculature, such as to remove an intravascular filter, tissue and other items from the vasculature. The apparatus has a user interface to manipulate a first and second actuating portion that are coupled to the distal end of the apparatus conduit. A retrieval apparatus may include forceps coupled to the second actuating portion whereby the retrieval actuator opens and closes the forceps for retrieval of an IVF or other device, such as stent or stent graft. An intravascular articulating retrieval apparatus may be used to dissect thrombus from the interior of the vascular wall, move a stent or remove a portion of a stent or stent graft to provide better blood flow or to allow blood flow into a branched vessel.

  • Publication number: 20220226555
Abstract: A manual clot aspiration and filtration system enables a method of removing a clot without general anesthesia and the expense of an operating room. An aspiration and filtration system for bodily fluid utilizes a syringe coupled with a filter unit to draw bodily fluid through the filter unit to collect debris on the filter. A flow valve may then be turned and the plunger depressed to force the filtered fluid back into the body. The filter may be configured to capture particles such as blood clots and plaque. The filter unit has a cover that can be removed for inspection and/or removal of the collected debris. When the cover is replaced, trapped air may be removed by turning the flow-valve to a purge direction and pressing the plunger into the syringe to force fluid back toward the filter unit to purge the trapped air through the purge valve.

  • Patent number: 9839763
Abstract: Multi-lumen catheters with improved tip configurations, including a triple-lumen catheter which may be useful for apheresis. In one variation, the catheter has three lumens with distal openings angularly spaced apart and staggered axially with respect to one another. In another variation, the catheter has two lumens exiting distally and one centrally positioned lumen exiting proximally. A third variation is a catheter with a single distal opening and two proximal openings. The staggered lumen openings along the axial length of the catheter may decrease recirculation while maximizing flow rates.

  • Publication number: 20050120247
Abstract: A user-configurable firewall and method in which a user-changeable security setting for a client computer is maintained by an access server through which a user accesses the public network. The user-changeable security setting can be used to specify which outside computers or network devices may access the client computer and what type of access to the client computer is allowed. If an attempt to access the client computer is made, the user-configurable security setting is checked to determine if the attempted access is allowed by the current security setting. If the attempted access is allowed by the current security setting, access is allowed to the client computer; otherwise, access is not allowed. If the user changes the user-configurable security setting, the changes to the user-configurable security setting are provided to the access server.
