  • Publication number: 20040175551
Abstract: In at least one embodiment, the present invention relates to a method and system of painting an article having two or more base coats, and to articles prepared in accordance therewith. In at least one embodiment, the method comprises applying a primer composition to a first and second area of the article; applying a first base composition to the first area of the article; curing the primer composition and the first base composition to form a primer and a first base coat; masking at least a portion of the first base coat; applying a second base composition to the second area of the article; removing the masking; applying a clear coat composition to the first and second area of the article; and curing the second base and the clear coat compositions. In at least one embodiment, the article is a vehicle and the compositions are applied via automated spray equipment.

  • Patent number: 6287293
Abstract: A method and apparatus for locating the injection point of an implanted medical device. In a preferred embodiment, the locating apparatus is in the form of radiopaque rings made of a metallic substance. When these rings are spaced apart at different heights on an implanted medical device, such as a drug port, a stereoscopic effect results from fluoroscopically viewing the device along an axis not parallel to the axis along which the rings are spaced. This effect allows one to readily determine the orientation of the device. This prevents accidental injection of drugs into the hard backside of the drug port.

  • Patent number: 4422381
Abstract: Electroexplosive device and static discharge element therefor. The electroexplosive device herein has a cylindrical metallic casing which is open at one end and closed at the other end, a bridge element and lead wires therefor, a static discharge disc surrounding the lead wires for preventing accidental ignition due to static electricity, and a ferrite sleeve surrounding the lead wires to prevent accidental initiation due to radio frequency currents. The static discharge element comprises a nonconductive circular substrate having a slotted opening for the lead wires, and a conductive coating layer on at least one face of the substrate to conduct electricity from the leads to the casing in the event of electrostatic discharge. This conductive layer should be in electrical contact with the casing but not with the lead wires; to that end the substrate is left uncoated in the immediate vicinity of the opening.
