Abstract: A pill dispensing assembly for dispensing a pill from a pill bottle includes a first layer having a pill exit passage. A second layer is operatively connected to the first layer, and includes a pill entry passage horizontally offset from the exit passage. A pill dispensing layer is positioned between the first and second layers, is movable with respect to the first and second layers, and includes a holding chamber sized to receive the pill. The holding chamber is horizontally movable from a first loading position in which the holding chamber is aligned with the entry passage and is horizontally offset from the exit passage to receive the pill, to a second dispensing position in which the holding chamber is aligned with the exit passage and is horizontally offset from the entry passage to dispense the pill through the exit passage. Pill dispensing may be timed or time monitored.

Abstract: A method and apparatus to identify names, personalities, titles, and topics that are present in a repository, and place them into a grammar, and to identify names, personalities, titles, and topics that are not present in the repository, and place them into a grammar, uses information from external data sources, notably the text used in non-speech, text-based searches, to expand the search terms entered into the ASR grammars. The expansion takes place in two forms: (1) finding plausible linguistic variants of existing search terms that are already comprehended in the repository, but that are present under slightly different names; and (2) expanding the existing search term list with items that should be there by virtue of their currency in popular culture, but which for whatever reason have not yet been reflected with content items in the repository.

A frame arranged to removably locate a sheet of material in a vision area, the frame having binocular lenses focused away from the vision area. A benefit of the invention is that a user is provided with binocular lenses at the point of need. The user is thus saved from the embarrassment of having to admit to requiring reading glasses they had omitted to bring.

Abstract: A device for moveably securing a weapon to a vehicle comprises a mounting platform having a frame, a rail, and a carriage selectively slidable, and optionally selectively lockable, along the rail; a swing arm assembly supported by the carriage, the swing arm having first and second elongate arms connected via a pivot joint, the second arm connected to, and supported by, the carriage via the first elongate arm; the second arm forming a first portion of a pintle connection that rotatably supports the weapon; the pivot joint including a locking mechanism operative to selectively lock the second arm relative to the first arm. The pintle connections of the device may use non-tapering pintles. The device may further comprise a yoke rotatably coupled to the second arm via the first portion of the pintle connection, the yoke adapted to rotatably support the weapon. Methods are also described.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for mitigating the risk of fraud in Internet banking. In an embodiment comprising an end user seeking access to the Internet banking site of a financial institution, the end user having already satisfied a first authentication requirement (such as providing a valid user id and password), the end user is required to satisfy a second authentication test when a measure of improbability associated with the login exceeds a threshold. The measure of improbability, in an embodiment, is based on the improbability of a combination of session statistics such as IP address, browser ID, hour of day, and time since the user's last valid login.

Each component includes a wall and at least one leg extending from the wall, the leg or legs defining a sliding space. The leg or legs of the second component slide within sliding space of the first component so that the main body expands and contracts as the wall of the first component is moved farther from and closer to, respectively, the wall of the second component.

Abstract: A plastic button for use in a rearview mirror mounting system. The plastic (e.g. polymer or polycarbonate) buttons holds tighter tolerances than conventional metal buttons. Additionally, it has improved flatness characteristics. No metal grinding is required to make the plastic buttons, which may be injection molded. Furthermore, the coefficient of expansion is satisfactory in view of a flexible adhesive utilized, and the button manufacturing process is cheaper than for conventional metal buttons.
