Abstract: Some embodiments provide for humidifier control systems and methods configured to adjust power to a heater plate in a surgical humidifier to account for changes in flow rate to provide a consistent output, to provide functionality for different modes of use, and to provide accurate control over temperature and/or humidity at relatively low flows. The humidifier control system can receive a flow rate reading and determine a power requirement corresponding to the received flow rate reading, wherein the power requirement is one of a plurality of set points which correspond to ranges of flow rates. The humidifier control system can determine a mode of use based at least in part on the flow rate reading. The humidifier control system can provide electrical power to the heater plate according to the power requirement and/or the mode of use.

Abstract: A backflow preventer for preventing a reverse flow of water in a plumbing system including a body having an inlet and an outlet. The body forms an intermediate zone between the inlet and outlet. An inlet check valve prevents the reverse flow of water from the intermediate zone through the inlet. An outlet check valve prevents the flow of water from the outlet into the intermediate zone. An inlet pressure sensor, an intermediate pressure sensor and an outlet pressure sensor provide readings for the respective zones. A controller monitors a pressure differential between the outlet pressure zone and the intermediate pressure zone to compare the pressure differential to a pre-set range. The controller generates a warning/error message when the pressure differential is outside the pre-set range. The controller can also monitor an inlet pressure in the inlet zone to generate a message if the inlet pressure varies inappropriately.

Abstract: A package in which an onboard computing system and a plurality of sensor devices are embedded. The package includes a plurality of cameras that are positioned against sidewalls of the package in order to capture image data of the external environment. When the computing system determines the package has arrived at a predesignated set of coordinates corresponding to a target property for which an appraisal is to be performed, the cameras are activated and begin collecting image data. The image data is transmitted to a remote server which will store the image data for review by insurance personnel.

Abstract: Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) are commonly used to assess patients with known or suspected pathologies of the lungs and liver. In particular, identification and quantification of possibly malignant regions identified in these high-resolution images is essential for accurate and timely diagnosis. However, careful quantitative assessment of lung and liver lesions is tedious and time consuming. This disclosure describes an automated end-to-end pipeline for accurate lesion detection and segmentation.

Abstract: Solid-state lighting devices, and more particularly, symmetrical lead frame structures for two-pin light emitting diode (LED) packages and methods for making the same are disclosed. The symmetrical lead frame structure can include a pair of leads that include symmetrical split cup portions that collectively, when placed next to each other, form a cup, across which an LED flip-chip can be placed. Each of the leads can be a respective electrode powering the LED flip-chip, which together with the symmetrical structure, provides a more even light emission profile and far-field pattern. A molded lens can be formed around the lead frame to protect the chip, as well as maintain a gap between the pair of leads of the lead frame structure. In some embodiments, a fill material can be added in the gap between the pair of leads.

Exemplary LED packages may include lead frame structures that are at least partially encased by a housing. Arrangements of light-altering coatings may be provided that cover one or more portions of lead frame structures exposed within LED package recesses. By providing light-altering coatings that cover lead frame structures within package recesses, negative impacts from potential lead frame discoloration due to environmental exposure may be reduced. Additionally, such light-altering coatings may be configured to reflect light emissions from LED chips before reaching portions of lead frame structures. Light-altering coating arrangements are disclosed where light-altering coatings are arranged in contact with LED chips or, alternatively, in a spaced relationship with LED chips.
