  • Patent number: 11298721
Abstract: An inside surface of a hose for use with liquid-cooled cooling plate assemblies and other applications that contain copper (Cu) components is pre-treated with a hydrophobic coating to reduce depletion of a copper corrosion inhibitor (e.g., benzotriazole (BTA)) dissolved in a liquid coolant (e.g., deionized water) that flows through the hose. Exemplary hydrophobic coatings include, but are not limited to, polydialkylsiloxanes such as polydimethylsiloxanes. In one embodiment, a multilayer hose is immersed in a solution containing hydrophobizing siloxane monomers dissolved in a solvent. The coated multilayer hose is then dried to evaporate the solvent. As the solvent evaporates, the siloxane monomers bind together to form the hydrophobic coating. In some embodiments, one or more hoses each provided with a hydrophobic coating interconnect liquid-coolant cooling system components (e.g.

  • Patent number: 11201393
Abstract: Embodiments herein describe a capillary containing a eutectic conductive liquid (e.g., EGaIn) and an electrolyte (e.g., NaOH) that is integrated into a printed circuit board (PCB). In one embodiment, the capillary is formed in a through-hole in the PCB and has negative and positive electrodes at its respective ends to seal the eutectic conductive liquid and the electrolyte. The capillary further includes one or more electrodes that extend through a side of the portion of the capillary containing the liquids. The wiper electrodes also make electrical contact with respective conductive layers in the PCB. Using a DC voltage between the negative and positive electrodes, the eutectic conductive liquid forms electrical connections between the wiper electrodes, which in turn, forms electrical connections between the conductive layers in the PCB.

  • Patent number: 11153976
Abstract: A method and structure are provided for implementing manufacture of a printed circuit board (PCB) with one of an infrared (IR) reflective mask or a novel solder mask to minimize coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) mismatch between PCB laminate and plated through hole (PTH) copper. At least one of an IR-reflective mask and a solder mask composition for use in IR reflow processes is created such that radiant heat is reflected away from the major portion of the PCB yet permitted to impinge upon the PTHs. The copper within the PTH expands due to radiant heating while the bulk laminate expansion is significantly reduced due to the reflected IR radiation. Consequently, the CTE mismatch is minimized and tensile strain of the copper in the PTH is reduced, providing enhanced reliability.

  • Patent number: 11140779
Abstract: A composite material incorporates multi-compartment microcapsules that produce heat when subject to a stimulus such as a compressive force or a magnetic field.
