  • Publication number: 20070132842
Abstract: A live video system provides live video monitoring of subject matter in a hazardous zone located in a poor radio frequency (RF) transmission area. A camera sealed against contamination captures video images of the subject matter in the hazardous zone. The camera sends the live video images over a camera cable connected to a live reel. The live reel may be located in the hazardous zone and has a feed cable on the live reel electrically connected to the camera cable as the feed cable is paid out from the live reel. This feed cable extends from the live reel to a transmission station located outside the poor RF transmission area. The transmission station has a RF transmitter connected to the feed cable. The RF transmitter transmits the video signal to a receiving station.

  • Patent number: 7127043
Abstract: A method and system of utilizing a secondary telephone line service, and in one embodiment encompasses analyzing a dialing sequence to convert from utilizing the secondary telephone line service to utilizing a primary telephone line service without the use of a manual override. By referencing a database of numbers, the present invention is able to determine if an outgoing service request is compatible with a preferred interface (e.g., the secondary interface), and, if not, to direct the outgoing service request to another interface (e.g., the primary interface, such as a POTS network).

  • Publication number: 20060065775
Abstract: The invention relates generally to a roll damping apparatus for a spinning projectile having a first section and a second section rotatably attached about a roll axis. The roll damping apparatus comprises a first portion attached to the front section, and a second portion attached to the rear section. The first portion is adapted to cause a braking frictional force to act on the second portion, the braking force being effective to control the spin rate of the front section relative to the rear section. The invention further relates to a spinning projectile having a roll damping apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6229608
Abstract: Procedure and system for inspecting a component (1) with leads to determine its fitness for assembly before the component is placed on a circuit board. A narrow illuminating beam (10) is directed from a light source (9) at a light-sensitive detector (11). The component (1) is moved in relation to the illuminating beam so that at least one of the leads (4) of the component passes through the illuminating beam and so that the position of the gripper (7) holding the component as a function of time is known. The position data of the gripper is registered. The signal produced by the light-sensitive detector as a result of the illuminating beam being intercepted and shadowed by the lead is registered.

Abstract: Procedure and system for inspecting a component (1) with leads to determine its fitness for assembly before the component is placed on a circuit board. In the procedure, a narrow illuminating beam (10) is directed at a light-sensitive detector (11). The component (1) and the illuminating beam (10) are moved in relation to each other so that the position as a function of time is known and that the leads (4) of the component pass through the illuminating beam. The illuminating beam thus reaches the light-sensitive detector when it falls between leads, whereas when it falls on leads, the leads cast a shadow, preventing the beam from reaching the light-sensitive detector. The pulse produced by the light-sensitive detector as a result of the illuminating beam being intercepted by the shadowing effect of the leads is registered. Based on the pulse, the width of the lead row and/or the distance between adjacent lead rows are/is computed.

  • Patent number: 6009387
Abstract: Apparatus for processing acoustic features extracted from a sample of speech data forming a feature vector signal every frame period includes a first linear prediction analyzer, a vector quantizer, at least one partitioned vector quantizer and a scalar quantizer. The first linear prediction analyzer performs a linear prediction analysis on the feature vector signal to generate a first error vector signal. Next, the vector quantizer performs a vector quantization on the first error signal thereby generating a first index corresponding to a first prestored vector signal which is an approximation of the first error vector signal. The vector quantizer also generates a residual vector signal which is the difference between the first error vector signal and the first prestored approximation vector signal.

  • Patent number: 5977886
Abstract: A user input is communicated to an application resident on a data processing system according to a code set which is adaptively selected in response to the application, the selected code set mapping to a respective set of corresponding user inputs, the selected code set optimizing a performance parameter for communicating between a user input device and the application. The selected code set may be selected from a stored plurality of code sets. Preferably, the selected code set minimizes energy expended in communicating codes from the user input device to the data processing system. According to one aspect, the application may first be identified, and then the selected code set may be selected according to the identified application. According to another aspect, a plurality of user inputs to the application may be accepted at the user input device and recorded, and the selected code set may be selected based on the recorded plurality of user inputs.
