Abstract: An artificial ligament is provided having an elongate body and two ends, with a loop being provided at least one of the ends and a loop liner being provided within the loop. A kit of artificial ligaments is also provided with each ligament in the kit having a different fixed length. Also provided are methods for determining a length of artificial ligament to be used within a prosthetic knee joint, selecting a ligament from a range or kit of ligaments, and implanting a prosthetic knee joint assembly comprising an artificial ligament.

Abstract: Systems and methods can provide for packet-rate policing and admission control with optional stress throttling. In some implementations, a broadband device can monitor bandwidth usage and respond after exceeding a maximum packet-rate threshold based on a per-channel basis. In other implementations, a broadband device can monitor bandwidth usage and respond after exceeding a maximum packet-rate threshold based on a per-service-flow basis. In additional implementations, a broadband device processor can feedback data to the packet-rate policer to throttle the packet rate based on processor utilization. Policing data traffic based on packet-rate instead of bandwidth can increase flexibility to service providers as an increasing number of services are deployed to users.

Abstract: A method and system for conducting a pre-authorized financial transaction is disclosed. A security gateway receives a pre-authorization token and a consumer alias from a merchant or an acquirer of the merchant. The token identifies a pre-authorized financial transaction and the token and alias have previously been provided to the merchant by a consumer. The alias is matched with a stored alias to identify an electronic device of the consumer. An authorization request is transmitted to the electronic device. A confirmation message or a denial message is received by the security gateway in response to the authorization request. Upon receiving a confirmation message, payment credentials associated with a selected payment instrument of the consumer and required for conducting the pre-authorized transaction are transmitted to the merchant or the acquirer of the merchant for use in completing the transaction.

A set of experts, included in the list of experts, that are available for instant messaging communication, is identified. A portion of the list of experts is provided to the user in the context of an instant messaging application associated with the user.

Abstract: A system and method for determination and display of personalized distance. A request is received for the determination of a personalized distance over a network, wherein the request comprises an identification of a requesting user, and a plurality of real world entities comprising at least a starting location and an ending location. At least one route is determined between the first location and the second location. Spatial, temporal, topical, and social data available to the network relating to the requesting user and each real world entity and the route is retrieved using a global index of data available to the network. A personalized distance is calculated via the network between the first location and the second location using spatial, temporal, topical, and social data relating to the requesting user and each real world entity and the route. A representation of the personalized distance calculated for the route is displayed on a display medium.

Abstract: A method and system for provisioning payment credentials usable by a mobile device in conducting a payment. The method is conducted at a provisioning system and comprises the steps of: receiving payment credentials from a receiving device, the payment credentials having been obtained from a portable payment device presented by a consumer at the receiving device; receiving, from the receiving device, an identifier entered by the consumer; identifying a mobile device or a secure element corresponding to the identifier; and communicating the payment credentials or a derivation of the payment credentials to the identified mobile device or the secure element to be securely stored in association with the mobile device. The method may include: encrypting the received payment credentials, the encrypted payment credentials having a unique decryption key; and wherein communicating a derivation of the payment credentials communicates the unique decryption key.

The method may additionally comprise, in response to determining that the participant of the first online meeting is in the un-trusted location, redacting, via the one or more computing devices, the selected portion of content from content available to the participant in the first online meeting.

Abstract: Embodiments of a method and apparatus for eliminating a missile threat are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the method includes identifying a vulnerability associated with the missile threat. The method can further include identifying a technique for exploiting the vulnerability to generate a vulnerability-technique (VT) pair. The method can further include applying a stochastic mathematical model (SMM) to generate a negation value, the negation value being representative of a probability that the technique of the respective VT pair will eliminate the threat by exploiting the vulnerability. The method can further include providing a recommendation for implementation the technique to eliminate the missile threat responsive to receiving a user selection of the technique, the user selection being selected based on the generated negation value. In a method conducted at a mobile device of a consumer, having a mobile-based credential stored in a secure memory thereof and having an associated alias, a request for the mobile-based credential from a remotely accessible server is received in response to a requestor device receiving the alias from the consumer. The mobile-based credential is accessed from the secure memory and transmitted to the remotely accessible server. The mobile-based credential is then usable at the remotely accessible server in combination with a server-based credential stored thereat for obtaining payment credentials usable in completing the transaction.
