  • Patent number: 6834360
Abstract: An on-chip logic analysis (OCLA) system captures data processed by a signal processing logic core embedded in a single-chip-device (SOC) without interrupting operations of the signal processing logic core. The OCLA system includes a data capturing unit embedded in the SOC device to monitor the operations of the signal processing unit and determines whether the operations satisfy predetermined trigger conditions. Once the trigger condition is satisfied, the data capturing unit captures internal data from/to the signal processing unit and transfers to an external host system. The host system controls the operations of the data capturing unit. The host system provides the captured data to an user interface for testing and debugging the operations of the SOC signal processing device.

  • Publication number: 20040197346
Abstract: Coupled polypeptides and fusion polypeptides for intracellular transport, and their preparation and use, include (i) an aminoacid sequence with the transport function of herpesviral VP22 protein (or a homologue, e.g. from VZV, BHV or MDV) and (ii) another protein sequence selected from (a) proteins for cell cycle control; (b) suicide proteins; (c) antigenic sequences or antigenic proteins from microbial and viral antigens and tumour antigens; (d) immunomodulating proteins; and (e) therapeutic proteins. The coupled proteins can be used for intracellular delivery of protein sequences (ii), to exert the corresponding effector function in the target cell, and the fusion polypeptides can be expressed from corresponding polynucleotides, vectors and host cells.

  • Patent number: 6792073
Abstract: A computationally efficient and accurate procedure for calculating radiation dose distributions within a volume of interest in a patient incorporating variations in patient density and source particle energy, position, direction, and type. The procedure iteratively simulates energy depositions from source particles using the Monte Carlo radiation transport method and then applies methods for reducing noise inherent in Monte Carlo results to obtain an accurate and computationally efficient representation of an actual radiation dose distribution compared to that produced by Monte Carlo methods alone. The invention makes an analogy between real measured data and transformed Monte Carlo generated computer data and then applies data denoising techniques to reduce the noise in the Monte Carlo dose images. Conversely, the present invention can produce a dose distribution having a predetermined noise level in a reduced amount of computation time.

  • Patent number: 6779082
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention described in the specification and drawings is a distributed and highly available data storage system. In one embodiment, the distributed data storage system includes a plurality of data storage units that are controlled by an object management system. The object management system preferentially selects the distributed data storage units for performing the file access requests according to the external inputs/outputs with which the file access requests are associated. In response to a file creation request that is associated with an external input of one distributed data storage unit, the object management system preferentially creates a data file in that distributed data storage unit. In response to a file retrieval request that is associated with a data file and an external output of a distributed data storage unit, the object management system preferentially returns a hostname and pathname of a copy of the data file that is stored within that distributed data storage unit.

  • Patent number: 6770356
Abstract: The present invention relates to an intermediate web comprising of high glass transition polymer fibers. The fibers are spun at low to moderate speeds and have a relative crystallinity of from 10% to 75% of the maximum achievable crystallinity. The intermediate web is a low crystallinity web that exhibits shrinkage of more than 30% and elongation to break of more than 80% at high strain rates. This web can be heat treated to reduce shrinkage to less than 15% while the web is capable of at least about 60% elongation at a strain rate of at least about 50 second−1.

  • Publication number: 20040138755
Abstract: A tibial knee joint prosthesis for attachment to a suitably prepared tibial bone, providing bearing portions in the lateral and medial compartments. The lateral and medial bearing surfaces of the component are inclined at different angles in the anterior to posterior direction of the knee, so that when mounted to the tibia, the lateral bearing surface of the prosthesis is higher than the medial bearing surface to the posterior side of the knee. In this way the lateral ligament is tightened progressively more than the medial ligament as the knee moves from extension to flexion, resulting in increased stability in the lateral compartment.
