  • Publication number: 20080126481
Abstract: A system for automatically providing different levels of formality controls in a communication is disclosed, in which a formality level is determined based on a current communication context. The formality level is used to enable an appropriate level of automatic checking of the communication contents. The determination of a formality level for a communication may be based on any specific context information regarding the participants and/or contents of a communication. including but not limited to the relative positions of participants within an organizational hierarchy (“organizational distance”), the professional relationships of the participants (e.g. service provider to client/customer), the frequency of communications between participants, the geographic locations of participants, the number of previous errors in the communication contents, configurable participant preferences, express communication settings by participants, etc.

  • Publication number: 20080120383
Abstract: A method and system for preventing recipients from being added and/or removed from a message thread in an e-mail and/or calendaring application. Recipients of a thread message may be allowed to seek and obtain permission from a thread originator to insert a recipient to and/or remove a recipient from the thread. The originating user of a message thread can prevent insertion and/or removal of recipients in an e-mail message thread and/or a calendaring system invitation message by selecting from corresponding message composition user interface options. A mechanism persistently registers the recipient removal and/or insertion settings provided by the originating user, for example as settings stored in and conveyed with the messages themselves. The originating user can permit non-originating users to insert and/or remove recipients from the thread.

  • Patent number: 7376236
Abstract: A speaker device for emitting subsonic, sonic or ultrasonic compression waves comprising a generally hollow drum, a rigid emitter plate attached to the drum, and a plurality of apertures formed within the plate which are covered by a thin piezoelectric film disposed across the emitter plate. A pressure source is coupled to the drum for developing a biasing pressure with respect to the thin film at the apertures to distend the film into an arcuate emitter configuration capable of constricting and extending in response to variations in the applied electrical input at the piezoelectric film to thereby create a compression wave in a surrounding environment. Parametric ultrasonic frequency input is supplied to the piezoelectric film to propagate multiple ultrasonic frequencies having a difference component corresponding to the desired subsonic, sonic or ultrasonic frequency range.

  • Publication number: 20080107229
Abstract: Methods and systems for imaging a patient are provided. The method includes scanning a patient and acquiring a plurality of frames of cine computed tomography (CT) images during one complete respiratory cycle. In one embodiment, a method is provided that includes selecting an organ of interest in the cine CT data and selecting a value for each pixel in the organ of interest that represents the maximum density measurement. An attenuation corrected positron emission tomography (PET) image is constructed based on the maximization of the pixel intensity of the organ of interest in the CT attenuation correction map. Incorrect attenuation correction values for PET images can be avoided by utilizing the CT attenuation correction map.

  • Publication number: 20080098067
Abstract: A system for eliminating the time lost in initial stages of a Web conference due to participants not being in-place on-time is disclosed. The system enables automatic steps to be taken at the server to pull conference participants into a conference based on their acceptance of an invitation to the conference. A server system provides indications of confirmed conference participants to agent software on the client systems, and activates client side agents when the a conference is about to start. The Web conference server communicates relevant conference information to each client side agent. The agent launches the user's client side browser and automatically performs any other preliminary steps that are required to join the participant to the conference. The participant user may be presented with a user interface that enables them to either accept or reject the automatic login to the conference. If the user rejects the automatic login, then indication of this rejection is passed to the server.

  • Patent number: 7358787
Abstract: A dual purpose current mode logic (“CML”) latch circuit is provided which includes a CML latch operable to receive at least a pair of differential input data signals and at least one clock signal. The CML latch is operable to generate at least one output signal in accordance with the states of the pair of input differential data signals. A mode control device is operable to receive a mode control signal to operate the CML latch as a buffer or as a latch. In such way, when the mode control signal is inactive, the CML latch generates and latches the output signal at a timing determined by the at least one clock signal, and when the mode control signal is active the CML latch generates the output signal such that the output signal changes whenever the states of the pair of differential input data signals change.
