Patent number: 10390998Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for assembling absorbent articles, and more particularly, methods and apparatuses for imparting a line of weakness into one or more layers of an advancing substrate. The advancing substrate may be a belt assembly including an outer layer, an inner layer, and one or more elastic strands disposed between the outer layer and the inner layer. The belt assembly may be rotated on a process member about a longitudinal axis of rotation. The process member may advance the belt assembly to a first laser source. The first laser source imparts a line of weakness into the belt assembly. A trim removal member may be used to separate the line of weakness forming a trim portion and a separation edge.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2015Date of Patent: August 27, 2019Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Uwe Schneider, Pablo Ibarrarazo, Klaus Eimann, Michael Joseph Page, Bradley Edward Walsh

Publication number: 20130188061Abstract: A photographer's guidance system is formed of a computer-based processor made responsive to location, time of day, manual user inputs, among others to provide photo exposure suggestions based upon information stored as photo set-up descriptors. In response to user requests in combination with present conditions such as time, location weather, etc., a database request is executed against stored photo set-up data to produce a result set of photo set-up descriptors. These descriptors are used both manually and automatically to assist a photographer user in setting up a photo exposure in agreement with the prescribed parameters. These systems may be directly coupled with a DSLR type camera and may operate via user controls and interfaces thereof. In alternative versions, these system have independent control and user interfaces with outputs coupled to a DSLR control.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2012Publication date: July 25, 2013Inventors: Peter Ellenby, Thomas Ellenby, Joseph Page

Publication number: 20110057448Abstract: Wave energy, converters are arranged as a plurality of coupled float members arranged in a two dimensional array. Link couplings between any float member and its neighbors drive a mechanical system to convert the disorganized motion due to heaving and bobbing of the float member on the ocean's surface into linear reciprocating motion in orthogonal directions. Such linear reciprocating motion is converted to electricity in an induction system having a mover and a stator—either being an inductor, the other being a magnet. The array is preferably provided to cover large surface areas whereby energy from incident ocean waves is appreciably absorbed at the float member an converted to mechanical motion. The array may be held to the ocean floor by a mooring or anchor system immediately offshore or up to a few tens of kilometers from the shoreline. Electricity provided at the array may be conveyed to shore via a submarine power transmission cable where it may be distributed and consumed on the public grid.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 8, 2009Publication date: March 10, 2011Inventor: Joseph Page

Patent number: 7500941Abstract: A folding system is provided for folding at least one wing extending from a central chassis of each of a plurality of absorbent articles formed from a continuous moving web moving in a longitudinal direction. The folding system has a wing-folding conveyor and at least one elongated, folding plow, which has an entrance end, an exit end and an inner edge that define a twist axis. The folding plow has a contoured surface having a configuration defined by a twist angle that increases along the twist axis from zero degrees near the entrance end to 180 degrees near the exit end. The wing-folding conveyor moves the central chassis along the inner edge of the folding plow and the wing slides against the contoured surface from the entrance end to the exit end, such that the wing folds around the central chassis near the inner edge.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2006Date of Patent: March 10, 2009Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Richard George Coe, Claudio Antonio Matos, Kazuya Ogawa, Michael Joseph Page, Richard William Hamm
