  • Patent number: 8560707
Abstract: Systems and methods of the present invention for maintaining network data distribution are provided. Network data may be distributed in such as manner as to allow a network session to weather interrupted communications between host and clients without significant loss of data. Embodiments of the present invention provide for one or more clients to serve as backup host(s) for the network session, such determinations including the use of NAT profile information. When the other clients transmit data to the host, they may also transmit the data to one or more backup hosts if there are any indications of interrupted communication.

  • Patent number: 8031721
Abstract: A method and system for profile-marking and scheduling of packets are disclosed. Using a dual-rate scheduler, the profile state of a packet being scheduled for transmission by a flow traffic descriptor is determined based on the traffic rate of the flow traffic descriptor, which is associated with the queue that the packet belongs to. The profile state of the packet is marked prior to the transmission of the packet.

  • Patent number: 7978599
Abstract: A method and system to identify an overload state in a remote network device within a communications network in which a local network device can send at least one message to the remote network device. The method comprises detecting at least one message transmission timeout for the message sent from the local network device to the remote network device, the message transmission timeout corresponding to a retransmission of the message from the local network device to the remote network device. The number of message transmission timeouts for the message or several messages is counted, with the method further comprising comparing the number of message transmission timeouts to a predetermined timeout threshold so that an overload state for the remote network device can be inferred when the number of message transmission timeouts exceeds the predetermined timeout threshold.

  • Patent number: 7952363
Abstract: Issuance of work orders in response to monitoring signal egress from shielding integrity flaws in a cable communication system by detecting received signal strength from a mobile receiver only during rising trends in received signal strength when the mobile receiver is in motion and tracking the maximum received signal strength peak during each rising trend. Rising trends are detected by computing two rolling averages of received signal strength sample of different lengths and offset from each other and applying a threshold to the difference between the rolling averages to provide hysteresis in switching between rising and falling trend detection. Reported peaks are then compared by proximity to each other and their circle of influence determined in accordance with respective signal strengths to determine if newly reported peaks are duplicates of previously reported peaks and duplicate reported peaks are removed or discarded.

  • Patent number: 7930386
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method is illustrated as including receiving a data packet at a network device, and upshifting a Quality of Service (QoS) reservation, wherein the upshifting is based upon an observed increase type selected from the group consisting of an observed increase in network traffic, data packet size, and data packet frequency. In a further embodiment, a network device is illustrated as possessing a receiver to receive data packets, and an upshifter to upshift a Quality of Service (QoS) reservation, wherein the upshifter observes an increase type selected from the group consisting of an observed increase in network traffic, data packet size, and data packet frequency.

  • Publication number: 20110019814
Abstract: A system and circuit for generating a variable sized hash output using a single hash and mixing function are disclosed. In one embodiment, a system for generating a variable sized hash output data includes a hash function module for generating an N bit hash result data by processing an M bit input data. The system also includes a mixing function module including a plurality of logic gates which implement a set of reversible arithmetic functions for generating an N bit hash output data by processing the N bit hash result data using the set of reversible arithmetic functions, where a subset of the N bit hash output data is used as the variable sized hash output data, and a size of the subset of the N bit hash output data is less than N bits.

  • Publication number: 20110000837
Abstract: A multiple inlet flow regulator with a restricted low-level inlet and upper-level overflow inlet is used to modify a new or existing storm water catch basin to regulate the flow of storm water from the catch basin into the sewer system. During periods of heavy rains and high flows into the catch basin, this flow regulator will allow the catch basin to serve as a temporary storage tank for storm water. The construction of these flow regulators can be accomplished using a variety of off-the-shelf components or custom fabrication, to achieve the desired effect of restricting the discharge from each catch basin in a combined sewer or storm water system as much as practicable without resulting in overflows onto the roadways.

  • Patent number: 7730029
Abstract: A system and method are provided for redundant control plane error handling allowing the inactive control plane to continue to act as a redundant failsafe when the inactive control plane database is in a compromised state which is below a certain predetermined level of maximum tolerable magnitude of error. Only if the inactive control plane database is in a state in which the errors associated therewith are intolerable, is a hard reset performed, or the reconciliation between the active and inactive control planes deemed to have failed.
