  • Patent number: 9278272
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a golf training apparatus comprising: a motion-generating (MG) device comprising an arcuate swinging arm and a swinging cart secured to the swinging art, wherein the swinging arm rotates around a swing axis that defines a path generally perpendicular to a swing plane, a hip control device configured to cooperate with a trainee and configured to change a position of a trainee's hips as the swinging arm swings the grip portion of the golf club, one or more motors cooperated with the swinging arm to cause the swinging arm to rotate about the swing axis; and a computer system communicationally coupled with the one or more motors and configured to control the one or more motors to swing the swinging arm.

  • Patent number: 8974316
Abstract: A putting/chipping training apparatus which allows a trainee to develop an effective putting/chipping stroke through the use of a motion-generating device that, using the trainee's selected golf club, e.g. putter, repeatedly replicates the trainee's most comfortable swing, or one modified to incorporate well-accepted sound fundamentals or one patterned thereafter the swing path of a golf professional. The device achieves this desired end by effecting rotational movement on two parallel axes, simultaneously with linear movement, to move the club through the swing path, with the trainee's hands gently holding the grip. The method may be individualized by first tracking the trainee's desired stroke to create an average swing path for one stroke which is entered into a CPU databank and can then be precisely replicated.

  • Publication number: 20040152533
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a non-putting iron-type golf club head having an improved striking face configuration comprising of a non-pear like shaped contour but rather a substantially symmetrical shaped one. The striking face extends to the intersection with the top face creating a top line trailing edge, wherein this edge extends from the heel to the toe and is substantially symmetrical in shape. All score lines on the striking face are symmetrical too. A theoretical vertical centerline, positioned in-line with the geometric center of the striking face and an equal distance from the toe and the heel edges. Various methods are employed to position the center of gravity of the total mass of the club head in positioned along the theoretical vertical centerline. This equates the mass of the head portion towards the heel and that of the toe as divided by the vertical centerline.

  • Publication number: 20030207720
Abstract: A plug for use in a golf club to selectively alter the swing weight of the golf club includes a sleeve for holding a high-density material such as Tungsten (sintered or unsintered) in the form of powder, rods or scrap parts. The sleeve is preferably made of plastic and shaped as a substantially hollow cylinder having an outer wall surface. The sleeve is further formed with a plurality of elongated ridges that project from the outer wall surface of the cylindrical sleeve. The ridges define a ridge diameter measured around the radial extremity of each ridge. This ridge diameter is sized to be larger than the inner diameter of the shaft at the end where the plug will be inserted. When the sleeve is inserted into the shaft, the ridges are compressed to establish an interference fit between the ridges and the shaft that anchors the sleeve to the shaft.

  • Publication number: 20020169033
Abstract: A method of making an article having a high moment of inertia and the article thus produced which method involves rotating a mold around a central axis, inserting higher density materials into said mold which will be centrifugally forced to the opposite ends of the mold. Then inserting a liquid which is less dense and which will fill the mold and after having infiltrated and attached to the first material that has been placed therein, will harden into solid form.

  • Patent number: 6416421
Abstract: A polar balanced putter is shown having a body made of readily castable material and having a high density material in the toe and head portions and a low density material in the center portion. Connected to the putter body by a joint bar is a hosel made from a high strength light weight material.

  • Patent number: 6200227
Abstract: A golf putter with two reference lines on the top of the putter head and hosel and a reference indicator placed on the putter head below the hosel, all of which improves putting accuracy. The invention aids the golfer in positioning the golf ball in reference to the center of the face of the putter and properly positions the golfer's head and eyes directly above the putter. If the golfer's head and eyes are properly positioned over the putter, the reference lines on top of the putter and hosel will appear to be continuous and the reference indicator is not visible. However, if the golfer's head and eyes are not properly positioned above the putter, the reference lines appear to be discontinuous and/or the reference indicator is seen by the golfer.

  • Patent number: 6083118
Abstract: A golf club head has a perimeter formed by bending a tube into a desired perimeter shape, and securing a member over at least part of the loop to at least cover the loop opening and form the striking face. At least one plug of weighting material fills a portion of the tube at a predetermined location on the loop to form a weighted portion. Successive plugs of the weighting material and a lighter weight material may completely fill the tubular loop. Each plug is inserted while the material is in a flowable condition and the loop is held in a suitable orientation based on the location of the plug. The material is allowed to harden before adding the next plug.
