  • Publication number: 20230100399
Abstract: Electrically controlled solid-state thermal switches and methods of controlling heat flow. An electrostrictive material is electromagnetically coupled to first and second electrodes that provide an electric field to the electrostrictive material. Different portions of the electrostrictive material are thermally coupled to each of a heat sink and a thermal load so that heat flowing from one into the other passes through the electrostrictive material. A control voltage is applied to the electrodes to selectively generate the electric field, thereby selectively altering the thermal conductivity of the electrostrictive material. The heat sink and thermal load are thereby selectively thermally coupled to each other in dependance on the control voltage.

  • Publication number: 20230103058
Abstract: A transportation management system generates routing guidance from an origin location to a destination location by modifying edge weights in a graph of a geographic location to penalize difficult immediate maneuvers. Responsive to receiving a routing request, the system identifies a position of a provider device in a base map having edges representing road segments and nodes representing intersections between road segments. A sub-graph is generated for the edges in the base graph located up to a threshold distance from the origin location, and the system modifies the weight of one or more edges in the sub-graph corresponding to a difficult immediate maneuver. When applying a routing algorithm to generate the routing guidance, the system uses the edge weights of the generated sub-graph for a first portion of the routing guidance and the original edge weights of the base graph for a second portion of the routing guidance.

  • Publication number: 20230103240
Abstract: The concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to intelligent continuous authentication (“ICA”) for digital rights management (“DRM”). A user device can receive a notification that a media content playback device has requested playback of a media file that is protected by an ICA engine (“ICAE”) instance. The user device can request a unique code from the media content playback device. The user device can provide the unique code to an ICAE central management system associated with a media content provider that provides media content encompassed in the media file. The user device can determine, based upon a result provided by the ICAE central management system, whether the unique code is valid or invalid. The user device can instruct the ICAE instance to enable or disable the media file based upon whether the unique code is valid or invalid.

  • Publication number: 20230098236
Abstract: Robust estimation of temperatures inside and outside a device can be achieved using one or more absolute temperature sensors optionally in conjunction with thermopile heat flux sensors. Thermopile temperature sensing systems can measure a temperature gradient across two locations within the device, to estimate absolute temperature at locations that are impractical to measure using absolute temperature sensors. Using heat flux models associated with the device, the thermopile temperature sensing system can be used to estimate temperature associated with objects that contact an outer surface of the device, such as a user's skin temperature. Additionally, the thermopile temperature sensing system can be used to estimate ambient air temperature. Within a device, temperature measurements from the thermopile temperature sensors can be used to compensate sensor measurements, such as when the accuracy or reliability of a sensor varies with temperature.
