  • Patent number: 11408436
Abstract: A gas turbine engine includes a combustor section arranged between a compressor section and a turbine section. The compressor section includes at least a low pressure compressor and a high pressure compressor. The high pressure compressor is arranged upstream of the combustor section. A fan section has an array of twenty-six or fewer fan blades. The low pressure compressor is downstream from the fan section. An airfoil is arranged in the low pressure compressor and includes pressure and suction sides that extend in a radial direction from a 0% span position to a 100% span position. The airfoil has a relationship between an axial stacking offset and span position that includes a curve with a negative slope from 90% span to 100% span. The negative slope leans forward relative to an engine axis.

  • Patent number: 11407590
Abstract: Method and apparatus for identifying a relative rotation between a rotary unit and a base unit in a drive unit, receiving a command that changes the relative rotation when the command is executed by the drive unit, determining that rotating at least one of the base unit or the rotary unit in a first direction in response to the command results in the relative rotation exceeding a maximum rotation value, and rotating at least one of the base unit or the rotary unit in a second direction opposite the first direction while executing the command. In one example, the drive unit may include cables that transfer power and control signals from the base unit to the rotary unit. Determining whether executing the command results in the relative rotation exceeding the maximum rotation value can ensure the cables are not damaged.

  • Patent number: 11409821
Abstract: Systems and methods for recommending content to an online service subscriber are presented. For each subscriber, content items that were the subject of the subscriber's prior interactions are projected, via associated embedding vectors, into a content item embedding space. The content items, via their projections into the content item embedding space, are clustered to form a plurality of interest clusters for the subscriber. A representative embedding vector is determined for each interest cluster, and a plurality of these embedding vectors are stored as the representative embedding vectors for the subscriber. The online service, in response to a request for recommended content for a subscriber, selects a first representative embedding vector associated with the subscriber and identifies a new content item from a corpus of content items according to a similarity measure between the first representative embedding vector and an embedding vector associated with the new content item.

  • Patent number: 11409652
Abstract: Systems and methods for estimating the number of workers needed to perform a garbage collection operation are disclosed. Similarity groups are used to identify segments associated with objects in a computing system. Using deletion records that identify objects to be deleted, the similarity groups impacted by the deletion records can be identified. The number of workers can be determined based on the impacted similarity groups. More specifically, the number of impacted similarity groups and/or workers can be evaluated in terms of memory requirements, input/output constraints and/or time requirements to estimate the number or workers needed to clean similarity groups impacted by a garbage collection operation.

  • Patent number: 11406527
Abstract: An airflow inhibitor apparatus for use in the mouth has an airflow inhibitor body and a tongue shelf. The tongue shelf positions the forward part of the tongue upward, improving the oral posture of the wearer and promoting proper nasal breathing. The airflow inhibitor body helps block the user from mouth breathing. The body is adjacent to the lips and the teeth when in the mouth. The tongue shelf extends laterally from the body. A bite pad may be shaped to fit the teeth of the wearer, having been made with reference to a custom mold or the like, or may have a combination of protrusions that permit the teeth to grip the pad. In an alternative configuration, the body has thinned wall sections that facilitate trimming of the airflow inhibitor apparatus with scissors or the like.

  • Patent number: 11407308
Abstract: A system includes a differential, sensors, and a controller. The differential is operable in a first differential mode in which a first shaft and a second shaft are allowed to rotate at different speeds, and a second differential mode in which the differential inhibits relative rotation between the first and second shafts. The sensors are configured to measure vehicle operating conditions. The controller is in communication with the sensors and the differential. The controller, when the vehicle mode is selected, is configured to determine if an intended path of the vehicle is straight, determine if a vehicle speed is less than a predetermined vehicle speed, and operate the differential in the second differential mode for a predetermined time period in response to the controller determining that the intended path of the vehicle is straight and the vehicle speed is less than the predetermined vehicle speed.

  • Patent number: 11406287
Abstract: A caregiver assistance system is disclosed for helping caregivers manage the care of existing bed sores and/or reduce the risk of a patient developing bed sores. The system may also help the caregiver to perform rounding tasks and/or to reduce the likelihood of patient falls. The system comprises a server application in communication with the patient's bed and one or more mobile electronic devices (e.g. smart phones). The mobile devices receive individual assessments of a plurality of bed sore risk factors and forward them to the server. The server generates bed sore risk scores from the answers and forward them to an EMR server. The server may also determine one or more risk reduction steps, display them on the mobile electronic device, and/or forward them to the patients' beds for implementation thereon. Additional bed sore information may be captured and sent to the EMR.

  • Patent number: 11409019
Abstract: An X-ray imaging apparatus comprises a digital X-ray detector housed in a radiation shielded enclosure with multiple pinhole apertures in the front panel of the housing. An X-ray source illuminates a target and X-rays are backscattered towards the X-ray imaging apparatus. The multiple pinhole apertures arranged in a pattern so that each pinhole generates a respective pinhole image on the X-ray detector. The size of each image is controlled by the thickness of the front panel and the width of the pinhole aperture (acting as optical stops), and the distance to the X-ray detector, and these values are selected to prevent overlap between any pair of pinhole images on the X-ray detector. An image processor is used to generate a synthetic combined image of the object form the multiple pinhole images.
