  • Publication number: 20220304929
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a lipid having a net charge at physiological pH, and being covalently attached to a lipid moiety. The lipid moiety comprises a hydrocarbon structure having two or more linked hydrocarbon chains, optionally having cis or trans C?C, at least one of said chains being covalently attached to the head group optionally via the linker region. The hydrocarbon chains are bonded to one another at a branch point at an internal carbon of the chain attached to the linker region, which branch point comprises a functional group having an electronegative atom. The hydrocarbon chains each have between 1 and 40 carbon atoms, wherein the hydrocarbon structure in total comprises between 10 and 150 carbon atoms. Advantageously, the hydrocarbon structure may assume a generally flared shape for enhanced delivery of cargo molecules. Further provided are delivery vehicles comprising the lipids.

  • Patent number: 11446239
Abstract: Biomedical devices for implantation with decreased pericapsular fibrotic overgrowth are disclosed. The device includes biocompatible materials and has specific characteristics that allow the device to elicit less of a fibrotic reaction after implantation than the same device lacking one or more of these characteristic that are present on the device. Biocompatible hydrogel capsules encapsulating mammalian cells having a diameter of greater than 1 mm, and optionally a cell free core, are disclosed which have reduced fibrotic overgrowth after implantation in a subject. Methods of treating a disease in a subject are also disclosed that involve administering a therapeutically effective amount of the disclosed encapsulated cells to the subject.

  • Publication number: 20220240899
Abstract: Super-resolution ultrasound imaging of microvessels in a subject is described. Ultrasound data are acquired from a region-of-interest in a subject who has been administered a microbubble contrast agent. The ultrasound data are acquired while the microbubbles are moving through, or otherwise present in, the region-of-interest. Microbubble signals are isolated from the ultrasound data and are separated into subsets of data based on properties of the microbubbles, such as spatial-temporal hemodynamics. By localizing, tracking, and accumulating the microbubbles in each subset of data, super-resolution images of the microvessels can be generated for each subset, such that each of these images represents a sparse subset of microbubble signals. These images are combined to generate a super-resolution microvessel image.

  • Publication number: 20220210599
Abstract: A method and a device for performing targeted calibration are described. In an example, a first set of spatial data acquired within a predefined region in an indoor space is received. The indoor space is represented as a grid of tessellated polygonal tiles arranged in a hierarchical structure of size-wise arranged polygonal tiles. a preliminary discretized spatial map of the calibrated spatial data in the predefined region is generated by linking the first set of spatial data and the corresponding polygonal tiles for which the spatial data has been acquired. From the preliminary discretized spatial map, a group of polygonal tiles are identified which have density of calibrated spatial data less than a threshold density. For the identified polygonal tiles, a second set of spatial data may be acquired. Based on the preliminary discretized spatial map and the second set of spatial data, a fingerprint map is generated for the indoor space.
