Patent number: 11979721Abstract: A wearable device can provide an audio module that is operable to provide audio output from a distance away from the ears of the user. For example, the wearable device can be worn on clothing of the user and direct audio waves to the ears of the user. Such audio waves can be focused by a parametric array of speakers that limit audibility by others. Thus, the privacy of the audio directed to the user can be maintained without requiring the user to wear audio headsets on, over, or in the ears of the user. The wearable device can further include microphones and/or connections to other devices that facilitate calibration of the audio module of the wearable device. The wearable device can further include user sensors that are configured to detect, measure, and/or track one or more properties of the user.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2023Date of Patent: May 7, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Daniel A. Publication number: 20240091422Abstract: A renal therapy system is disclosed. In an example, the renal therapy system includes a home renal therapy machine that stores, to a log file, dates of when renal therapies were performed and a type of each renal therapy that was performed. The system also includes a server that receives the log file from the home renal therapy machine. The server compares the dates and types of performed renal therapies stored in the log file to a device program that specifies dates for performing renal therapies and the types of renal therapies to be performed. The server displays a flag in a user interface of a clinician computer when there is a deviation from the comparison.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 20, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: Neil Tiwari, Joshua James Miller, Marc Steven Minkus, Matthew R. Patent number: 11668544Abstract: An EM driver for accelerating an object may be configured as an EM rifle for accelerating, rotating to spin-stabilize, and releasing a projectile. A core includes a stator coil, forward and reverse coils, a railed shaft, and a transfer shaft. The stator coil generates a first EM field, and the forward and reverse coils generate second and third EM fields which interact with the first EM field to accelerate the armature in forward and reverse directions, respectively. The railed shaft is elongated along a central axis through the armature and includes multiple rails arranged helically around a central shaft. The armature remains in contact with the rails during acceleration so as to impart a turning motion. The transfer shaft is physically coupled with and projects forwardly from the armature and transfers to the projectile the acceleration and the turning motion of the armature in the forward direction.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2021Date of Patent: June 6, 2023Assignee: Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies, LLCInventors: Erik Joseph Timpson, Seth Hartman, Joshua J. Patent number: 11181680Abstract: A luminaire includes a housing, light-emitting diodes and a light guide. A lateral direction from a top side to a bottom side of the housing is a preferred direction. A front side of the housing forms an aperture. The light guide substantially spans the aperture. In operation, the LEDs emit light toward the preferred direction, which light enters a light coupling surface of the light guide, where it propagates and is substantially retained by total internal reflection. The light guide includes light extraction features to redirect a portion of the light out of total internal reflection, so that some of the light exits the housing through the aperture. The light extraction features redirect some of the light so that more of the light exits the aperture between a normal direction of the light guide and the preferred direction, than between the normal direction and the non-preferred direction.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2020Date of Patent: November 23, 2021Assignee: ABL IP Holding LLCInventors: Christopher J. Publication number: 20200074497Abstract: Approaches provide for evaluating lift associated with supplemental content based on a Monte Carlo unexposed method. Users may be separated into groups of exposed users that have interacted with supplemental content and an unexposed group that has not interacted with the supplemental content. Activity of the users in the unexposed groups may be tracked over conversion windows that are obtained, at least in part, from conversion windows of the exposed users. Thereafter, conversion rates for the unexposed group may be determined within the same windows as those of the exposed group to determine the impact of the supplemental content.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2018Publication date: March 5, 2020Inventor: Joshua J. Patent number: 10415799Abstract: A dual output downlight luminaire includes a housing that forms at least a first cavity. A partition extends from a portion of the housing and at least partially forms a boundary between the first cavity and an annular second cavity. A first light source emits a first light that is centered about an optical axis and propagates toward a first output aperture. An optic redirects the first light to form a first light beam that exits the luminaire through the first output aperture. A concentrated portion of the first light beam subtends an angle of 60 degrees or less and is centered about the optical axis. A plurality of second light sources, within the second cavity, emit a second light that exits the luminaire through an annular second output aperture. The first and second light sources are independently controllable with respect to each other.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2016Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignee: ABL IP Holding LLCInventors: Douglas Grove, Peter K. Patent number: 10344476Abstract: A luminaire configured for mounting to a grid ceiling system includes first and second portions. The first portion includes a first housing, one or more first mating elements, and a light engine coupled with the first housing that generates light from electrical power, and is oriented to emit the light away from the first housing. The second portion includes a second housing and one or more second mating elements. The second mating elements are adapted to couple with the first mating elements. At least one of the first portion and the second portion includes an electrical receptacle for receiving the electrical power for the light engine. When the first mating elements couple with the second mating elements, the first housing and the second housing together define a cavity for one or more members of the grid ceiling system.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2016Date of Patent: July 9, 2019Assignee: ABL IP Holding LLCInventors: Christopher J.
