Patent number: 10505735Abstract: Embodiments relate to inserting a preamble code as a preamble of a sub-frame of encrypted data to indicate rekeying is to be performed at a source device and to indicate data of the sub-frame and subsequent sub-frames is encrypted. A sink device authenticates a source device using an authentication and encryption protocol. The sink device receives a data stream including audio data. At least a portion of the received audio data is encrypted and the encrypted audio data is packetized into sub-frames. The sink device inserts a first preamble code as a preamble of a sub-frame to indicate rekeying is to be performed at the source device according to the authentication and encryption protocol, and to indicate that the audio data in a payload of the sub-frame and payloads of subsequent sub-frames is encrypted. The sink device transmits the packet to the source device via a first data link.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2015Date of Patent: December 10, 2019Assignee: Lattice Semiconductor CorporationInventors: Ju Hwan Yi, Hoon Choi

Patent number: 10091546Abstract: In one aspect, a video processing device includes a processor and a transmitter, for example implemented as separate integrated circuits on a printed circuit board. Pins on the processor are coupled to pins on the transmitter via a data channel, for example conductive leads on the printed circuit board. Video data is transmitted from the processor to the transmitter via this data channel, which is high speed enough to accommodate video data. The transmitter also includes an encryption engine used to encrypt the video data. Encryption control data, which determines the encryption to be applied, is transmitted from the processor to the transmitter over the same data channel as the video data. This is more secure than transmitting the encryption control data over a slower separate data channel, because the high speed video channel is harder to tamper with.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2017Date of Patent: October 2, 2018Assignee: Lattice Semiconductor CorporationInventors: Hoon Choi, Wooseung Yang, Ju Hwan Yi

Patent number: 9852103Abstract: Embodiments relate to half-duplex bidirectional transmission of data compliant with a first standard (e.g., Universal Serial Bus (USB) standard) over a physical channel of a multimedia link for transmitting audio/video (“A/V”) data compliant with a second standard (e.g., Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) standard) between a source device and a sink device using time division multiplexing (TDM). The source device sends units of data including A/V data and forward data compliant with the first standard at first times whereas the sink device sends units of data including backward data compliant with the first standard at second times between transmissions from the source device. The first times do not overlap with the second times. Synchronization signals may be added to the first and second units of data to align character symbols embedded in the first and second units of data.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2015Date of Patent: December 26, 2017Assignee: Lattice Semiconductor CorporationInventors: Ju Hwan Yi, Young Il Kim, Gijung Ahn, Min-Kyu Kim, Daeyun Shim, Gyudong Kim, Hoon Choi

Publication number: 20170099493Abstract: A video processing system has a source device and a sink device. The source device compresses raw video data and transmits the resulting compressed video data and at least some of the raw video data to the sink device. The sink device decompresses the transmitted compressed video data and generates a reconstructed output video frame, where each region of the output frame is based on a selection of either the corresponding raw video data or the corresponding decompressed video data. By using raw video data for some of the regions of the output frame, noticeable artifacts resulting from using a lossy video compression/decompression algorithm can be omitted. In one embodiment, the sink device compares regions of raw and decompressed video data to select data for the output frame and requests the source device to transmit specific regions of new raw video data based on those comparisons.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 27, 2016Publication date: April 6, 2017Inventors: Ju Hwan YI, Young Don BAE
