Abstract: An inter-domain authentication mechanism is provided for carrying out a cross-domain authentication for a given user between an access network domain and a Multimedia domain. The authentication mechanism is applicable where a user has been authenticated by the access network and may be implemented as a dedicated Multimedia Authentication device in close co-operation with a subscriber server, or be fully integrated in the subscriber server. The authentication mechanism is arranged for re-using authentication data between different networks, or between different technological domains, and with help from other entities of a Multimedia domain according to present standards.

Abstract: The basic problem addressed by the present invention is the free disposition of users, without restrictions on users identifiers, among a plurality of AAA-servers within an ISP network for allowing AAA-service network scalability and for hiding the AAA-service network configuration to external AAA-clients. A toll control server (100) stores a voucher assertion (1032) in relationship with a toll identifier (T-ID) obtainable from a vehicle (V1). When a toll event (405) reported from a reading station (11) comprising a toll identifier obtained from a vehicle is going to be processed, it is checked whether a voucher assertion exists in relationship with the obtained toll identifier. After checking the existence of a voucher assertion for the obtained identifier, and the conditions eventually stated on it, the payment of the toll event is ascribed to the default payment account (ACCT) for said identifier or to a second payment account. The UDS is located close to an entity disposed to request user information and the UDS responds to a query pertaining to a specific user by redirecting the query to the appropriate server or serving entity. The UDS implements a secondary database with user and server identification information obtained from primary user databases associated with or derived from the servers. The use of distinct primary and secondary databases simplifies data handling, since data changes and updates can be readily managed in the primary databases and then transferred to or actualized in the secondary database.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for releasing remaining subscriber activities through the use of a service termination command. A home public land mobile network (HPLMN) is informed of remaining activities by visited PLMNs (VPLMN) and interrogating PLMNs (IPLMN). The HPLMN sends a timer to the VPLMNs and IPLMNs in a MAP operation. If upon expiration of the timer the subscriber has remaining activities in the node, then the node sends an alert to the HPLMN. The timer may be based upon a fraud risk of the PLMN and/or of the fraud risk of the subscriber. Accordingly, the HPLMN waits for an alert from a particular node before sending a service termination to the node.
