  • Publication number: 20030025349
Abstract: A motor vehicle has a folding roof which can be opened and lowered into a rear storage space. Partitioning of the rear storage space into a folding-top space and a residual luggage space is provided by a separating arrangement which includes a dimensionally stable covering element that can be shifted vertically from a use position into a non-use position when the folding top is stored. The covering element extends over a rear sub-length of the separating arrangement and can be displaced forwards into the non-use position shortening the length of the separating arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20030020299
Abstract: A motor vehicle having a fixed roof is provided which can be opened and has a front and a rear roof part which are connected to each other in an articulated manner and, controlled by a main link arrangement, can be shifted between a closing position and a storage position in a rear storage space, having a fixed rear window which is mounted pivotably on lateral roof pillars and the pivot axis of which runs in the central region of the rear window in the transverse direction of the vehicle. The rear window is driven in a rotational manner relative to the roof pillars during the opening and closing movement of the fixed roof, and the rear window, after reaching the closing position of the fixed roof, is pressed via the rotational drive against a sealing seat interacting with the rear window.

  • Publication number: 20030023363
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for dynamic adaptation of the support of the body, in particular the lateral support, of a person seated on a vehicle seat, in which a measure of a current adaptation taking into account the current vehicle velocity is predicted and is set by an adaptation system which is integrated in the vehicle seat. In order to compensate for the inertia of the adaptation system which is inherent in the system, prediction of the adaptation is performed from stored data over the current road course, onto which data the current vehicle data are projected, and in that the adaptation system is actuated taking into account the adaptation time inherent in the system, in such a way that, when the event requiring the adaptation occurs, preferably when a bend is travelled through, at least one adaptation presetting adapted thereto is achieved.

  • Publication number: 20030020296
Abstract: A cover device for a folding top compartment of a vehicle with a lowerable roof structure. It being possible to pivot the roof structure into the folding top compartment which is arranged behind a rear region in a back part of the vehicle bodywork and which can be closed with a folding top compartment lid. A cover unit closes, with a front cover part and a rear cover part, a free space which is formed between the closed folding top compartment lid and the rear region. The rear cover part is mounted in a pivotably adjustable fashion on the front cover part, and can be adjusted between an active position, in which the rear cover part closes a gap between the front cover part and the folding top compartment lid, and a passive position, in which the rear cover part clears the gap.

  • Patent number: 6511130
Abstract: A head restraint for a vehicle seat has a holding element which can be inserted into a seat backrest in a manner allowing it to be displaced vertically. A padding support is arranged on the holding element which holds a padded headrest intended for supporting the head. A pivoting device is arranged between the holding element and padding support and is intended for setting the inclination of the padded headrest about a rotational axis orientated transversely to the seat depth. In order to provide a head restraint which is anatomically shaped and can be set in height and inclination in such a manner that in every position it forms a continuation of the contour of the seat occupant's back, the padded headrest has a padded tongue which is pulled out downwards over the padding support for the purpose of supporting the back of the neck. The contour of the front surface of the padded headrest and padded tongue reproduces the profile of the back of the head and back of the neck.

  • Patent number: 6299250
Abstract: A vehicle seat with a contour adjustment mechanism and control for the lordosis region of the seatback portion including at least two air cushions arranged one above another, the control including an operating unit and switching assembly for changing air pressure in the two air cushions. Specifically, two sets of operative switches are provided, one set to signal the operating unit to produce a change of the air pressure ratio between the two air cushions and the other set to simultaneously change the air pressure in the two cushions without changing the current pressure ratio.

  • Patent number: 6010178
Abstract: A covering arrangement for a folding-top compartment which is arranged in the rear region of a vehicle and into which it is possible to pivot a folding top which has a solid, bottom rear-wall termination, and having a folding-top cover by way of which it is possible to cover the frame opening behind the rear-wall termination of the closed folding top. The covering arrangement includes a panel covering by way of which it is possible to cover most of the frame opening of the folding-top compartment in front of the rear-wall termination of the closed folding top, and having the capability for the panel covering to be displaced. This capability makes it possible for at least a rear panel of the panel covering to be moved forward into an out-of-the-way position, such that the folding top can be pivoted past it. Once the folding top has been stowed away, the rear panel can be moved rearward into a position in which the rear panel adjoins the front border side of the folding-top-compartment cover.

  • Patent number: 5975619
Abstract: A folding top is provided for vehicles, with the top being lowered into a rear storage compartment of the vehicle when the top is open. The upwardly directed opening of the rear storage compartment is covered by at least one lid which can be displaced for closing the top into a deflecting position that provides the pivoting clearance for the top. The lid has a supporting means arrangement which, when folding top is lowered and the lid cooperates with a corresponding supporting means arrangement of the folding top so that the folding top can be secured by the locking means of the lid.

  • Patent number: 5944375
Abstract: A movable roof construction for an open or convertible passenger car with a two-part foldable hardtop. To prevent the occurrence of wind noises in the area of the bordering of the two hardtop parts, a locking mechanism is provided between the two parallelogram control arms on each side of the parallelogram linkage. The locking mechanism is restrictedly coupled by transmission devices to the locking device of the forward roof part on the windshield cross member. Thereby, for a release of the parallelogram control arms, the locking mechanism can be unlocked together with an unlocking of the locking device.

  • Patent number: 5666873
Abstract: An operating system for hydraulic drive elements of a folding top, such as a lowerable folding top of a convertible, can be actuated by switching apparatus. The drive elements are fed by a pressure source from a pressure medium reservoir via an inlet and connected to a return to the pressure medium reservoir. Switchable directional control valves distribute the pressure generated by the pressure source to the drive elements moving various parts. Actuation of the directional control valves corresponds to a given sequence of movements of the top. To simplify the operating system, a plurality of operational elements assigned to various operating functions can be switched at the same time by individual directional control valves. As a result, a smaller number of expensive directional control valves is required.

  • Patent number: 5655331
Abstract: A drive system is provided for moving a lockable vehicle part. The drive system includes a drive element that operates with a change in length. The element is supported at its ends on the vehicle part and on the body. A releasable snap lock is provided by which the vehicle part is locked in one of its end positions. The snap lock is released by a control stroke of the drive element effectively connected with the release mechanism of the snap lock. The control stroke precedes the working stroke to move the vehicle part by connecting one end of the drive element to a release mechanism. In order to reduce the space required in the vehicle for the drive system, a rotary joint is provided as the release mechanism for the control stroke of the drive element.
