  • Patent number: 7108978
Abstract: It is provided isolated polynucleotides that include sequences from genomic region around the gene CD 81. The polynucleotides include polymorphisms associated with treatment response of HCV patients to interferon-? and ribavirin combined therapy and are useful as the probes in screening for patients who will response to interferon-? and ribavirin combined therapy. It is further provided linkage disequilibrium structure of the CD81 gene and haplotype information within a particular LD block, which can be used for prediction of the treatment outcome of the interferon-? and ribavirin combined therapy on HCV patients.

  • Patent number: 7037696
Abstract: A truncated glucanase with an improved thermal stability and a higher specific enzymatic activity than the wild-type enzyme. The truncated glucanase is obtained by removing a number of amino acid residues from the C-terminal of the wild-type 1,3-1,4-?-D-glucanase of Fibrobacter succinogenes. The removal of the C-terminal amino acid residues can be conducted at the genetic level by modifying the gene encoding for the wild type enzyme using, for example, a PCR-based method. Or, it can also be conducted at the protein level by first producing the wild-type enzyme protein and then subjecting the wild-type protein to certain protease action to remove a portion of its C-terminal.

  • Publication number: 20060006263
Abstract: A revolving-screw assembly for a food grinder includes a grinder housing, a feed tube and a cutting screw. The grinder housing has a discharge end and a food chamber defined through the discharge end. The food chamber has a fluted interior surface and an axis. The feed tube that is radially offset from the axis of the food chamber is formed on the grinding housing communicates with the food chamber and has an axis. The cutting screw is rotatably and coaxially mounted in the food chamber and cooperates with the fluted interior surface of the food chamber to grind and transport food inserted though the feed tube. Consequently, the food is easy to be pushed into the food chamber via the feed tube because the rotations of the cutting screw will draw the food into the food chamber.

  • Publication number: 20040132024
Abstract: A method of developing a means for detecting a genetic disorder. The method involves identifying a microsatellite marker and a single nucleotide polymorphism marker. Presence of both the microsatellite marker and the single nucleotide polymorphism marker in a subject indicates that the subject is suffering from or at risk for suffering from a genetic disorder.

  • Patent number: 6249646
Abstract: A photographic film package with film container holding chamber for a camera is disclosed. The film package includes a light-tight casing having an exposure opening, and a film container holding chamber formed on one side of the exposure opening in the light-tight casing for holding a film container, and a film winding chamber formed on the other side of the exposure opening. The film container holding chamber includes two opposite plates defining a C-shaped clipping structure and an axially-extending side opening through which a film container is inserted into the C-shaped clipping structure to be substantially surrounded thereby. The film container holding chamber further comprises an upper supporting plate formed on the upper section of the film container holding chamber, and a lower supporting plate formed on the lower section of the film container holding chamber.
