  • Patent number: 5611375
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for overfill protection of a container for anaesthetic liquid, comprising a liquid conduit for supplying anaesthetic liquid to a container for vaporization, and a gas conduit for withdrawing a volume of gas equivalent to the filling of anaesthetic liquid from the container. To prevent overfilling of the container, the liquid conduit from a feed point for anaesthetic liquid to the container comprises an inclined duct portion having an inlet through which the anaesthetic liquid is passed to the inclined duct portion and an outlet through which the anaesthetic liquid is passed out from the duct portion and further to the container. A body is positioned in the inclined duct portion such that said body can move in the inclined duct portion from a first position to a second position and vice versa, depending on the inclined position of the container, said body being adapted to move in front of the outlet when the container is tilted and to shut the outlet.

  • Patent number: 5585045
Abstract: An arrangement for filling an anaesthetic vaporiser, the arrangement comprising a filling device to be connected to a transport package for an anaesthetic agent, the filling head of the device being attachable to an opening in the vaporiser. The arrangement comprises a fastening means for clamping the filling head against the sealing surface of conduits leading to the opening, and a valve means arranged to open when the filling head is in the clamped position against the sealing surface of the conduits leading to the opening and thus arranged to allow the flow of the anaesthetic agent between the vaporiser and the transport package and the flow of the substitute gas in the opposite direction between the transport package and the vaporiser.

  • Patent number: 5572992
Abstract: An apparatus and method for identifying containers (1) containing different anesthetic fluids. A connecting element (8) is used for coupling the container with a conduit (6) extending to a patient for supplying an anesthetic to a patient. The containers containing anesthetic fluids are designated or labeled distinctly from each other by means of at least one magnetic-field producing element (12). The presence of this element is in turn detected by means of a magnetic-field detecting element (13). The identification of a container containing an anesthetic fluid and, thus, an anesthetic fluid contained therein is effected by means of an identification element (15), which receives a signal from one or more magnetic-field detecting elements. The detection can also be used as a basis for establishing whether the container is coupled in its position.

  • Patent number: 5398737
Abstract: The invention relates to a connecting mechanism for connecting a vessel (5) through the intermediary of a connecting element (3) to a liquid container (6) of an anaesthetic liquid vaporizing apparatus (1), the connecting element including two ducts (23, 24) extending therethrough, the anaesthetic liquid being carried along one (23) of said ducts between vessel (5) and liquid container (6) and the gas displaced by the liquid being carried along the other duct (24) between vessel and liquid container in the direction opposite to that of the liquid, and the connecting mechanism including an attachment point (2) for fixing said connecting element (3) and a transmission element (10) for operating a shut-off device (13), the shut-off device being capable of closing or opening a flow communication between vessel (5) and the liquid container.
