  • Publication number: 20230142529
Abstract: Present application relates to a strategy for compensating for transesterification degradation of lipid-encapsulated RNA, such as mRNA-LNP, in liquid formulations for high-volume distribution. This involves determining the rate of degradation of the encapsulated RNA and calculating an appropriate overage relative to the intended dose. Alternatively, a higher dose of the RNA may be administered to compensate for loss of effective RNA or the RNA may be formulated in higher purity in anticipation of degradation. The strategy provides a balance between supplying effective and safe products and the need for costly manufacturing processes or transportation hurdles, such as cold-chain supply.

  • Patent number: 11609918
Abstract: The application relates to a method for creating a user-augmented index, including: receiving information identifying data, a first user-created category and a first user-designated value from the first user. The data, the first user-created category, and the first user-designated value are associated together in a data entry in the user-augmented index. A second user-created category and a second user-designated value are received from the second user. The second user-created category and the second user-designated value are also associated with the data entry in the user-augmented index. The application further relates to ranking one or more related data entries in response to a query of a user-augmented index.

  • Patent number: 11606959
Abstract: Systems and methods describe improvements in the automated production of meat analogues. Ingredients are provided, including oil, water, binding agent(s), and one or more forms of protein to be separately and continuously conveyed through a facility. Concurrently to the ingredients being conveyed through the facility, a number of actions occur. The system emulsifies the oil, water, and binding agent(s) within an emulsifying machine to form a final emulsion. A hydration process is separately applied to at least one of the forms of protein. The system mixes and conveys the protein(s) with the final emulsion in a final mixer to form a final dough.

  • Publication number: 20220369668
Abstract: A system configured to hydrate and process foodstuff materials can include an exterior tube, an inner shaft, and multiple water inlets. The exterior tube can have a foodstuff inlet, an outlet, and a longitudinal axis, and can facilitate the conveyance of foodstuff materials along a material passage from the foodstuff inlet to the outlet. The inner shaft can be located within the exterior tube, can extend along the longitudinal axis, and can combine with the exterior tube to define the material passage. The inner shaft can be configured to be rotationally driven and can include one or more particle resizing features extending therefrom. The multiple water inlets can be spaced apart along the length of the material passage and can be configured to provide water to the foodstuff materials at different locations along the length of the material passage as the foodstuff materials are being conveyed along the material passage.

  • Patent number: 11432565
Abstract: Systems and methods describe continuously and progressively hydrating and post-processing material, such as food material for meat analogue products. First, material is provided to be conveyed through a material passage between an exterior tube and a rotating inner shaft, with the rotating inner shaft including one or more particle resizing features extending around the rotating inner shaft. Concurrently, the material is post-processed, via the particle resizing features, to reduce the material into a plurality of smaller material particles. Also concurrently, water is continuously and progressively provided to the material to produce hydrated material particles.

  • Patent number: 11432564
Abstract: Systems and methods describe continuously and progressively hydrating material, such as food material for meat analogue products. First, material is provided to be conveyed through a material passage between an exterior tube and a rotating inner shaft, with the rotating inner shaft including one or more agitation and/or progression features. The progression features could be, e.g., a series of imbricated protruding filled paddles arranged in a helical pattern, while the agitation features could take the form of, e.g., unfilled hoops, hooks, or paddles. Concurrent to conveying and hydrating the material through the material passage, a number of lumps, clumps, and/or unhydrated pieces of the material are broken up via one or more agitation features configured to produce uniform hydration and consistent dispersal of the material. Also concurrently or subsequently, water is continuously and/or progressively provided to the material to produce hydrated material particles.

  • Publication number: 20220142193
Abstract: A progressive shear emulsifier can include an outer body and an inner body. The outer body can have a central opening therethrough, an inlet, an outlet, and an inner surface along the central opening defining a first three-dimensional contour. The inner body can be positioned within the central opening and configured to rotate with respect to the outer body about an axis of rotation along the central opening. The inner body can have an outer surface defining a second three-dimensional contour that correlates to the first three-dimensional contour to form a material passage between the outer body and inner body. Rotation of the inner body within the outer body can create progressive amounts of shear across materials passing through the material passage, which can result in emulsified material. Conic transitions can create turbulent regions that mix the materials passing therethrough. Collective geometry can create conveyance and/or pumping of materials, which can be methylcellulose and free water.

  • Publication number: 20070009995
Abstract: The instant invention is drawn to the methods and compositions necessary to provide recombinant proteins with a substantially reduced or eliminated content of norleucine or other non-standard amino acids. Various embodiments of the invention provide for the substantial elimination of the incorporation of non-standard amino acids into recombinant proteins by the co-expression or enhanced expression of a protein (or the enzymatically active portion thereof) capable of degrading norleucine or other non-standard amino acids, including norvaline, beta-methylnorleucine, and homoisoleucine. In certain particular embodiments of the invention, the norleucine is degraded by a glutamate dehydrogenase, a leucine dehydrogenase, a valine dehydrogenase, a phenylalanine dehydrogenase, a glutamate/leucine/phenylalanine/valine dehydrogenase, or an opine dehydrogenase. Also provided are the cells and DNA constructs for carrying out these methods.

  • Publication number: 20060058427
Abstract: The present invention provides methods of making sticky powder comprising mixing one or more resin or (co)polymer powders in one or more mixing devices without agglomerating the powders and while measuring the power, work or torque drawn by the mixing devices, the mixing continuing until the measure of the power or torque drawn indicates that the powders have become sticky. The mixing further comprises adding to the powders one or more dry materials and mixing to so that the dry materials adhere or “bond” to the sticky powders. Alternatively, the methods further comprise slowing or stopping the mixing, or cooling while mixing once the said sticky powders have been formed, adding one or more dry materials to form a sticky powder mixture, and further mixing to bond the sticky powders and the dry materials together.
