Publication number: 20180220337Abstract: The disclosure includes a method for rapidly recovering the speed of TCP transmission after a cross technology handover experienced by a mobile device. In the method, the mobile device receives a sequentially first TCP data packet after the cross technology handover completes via a TCP session between the mobile device and a remote TCP server, generates a first acknowledgement (ACK) associated with the sequentially first TCP data packet, where the first ACK comprises a first Selective ACK (SACK) option, removes the first SACK option from the first ACK when a gap exists between data in the sequentially first TCP data packet and data received before the cross technology handover occurs, and sends the first ACK without the first SACK option to the remote TCP server via the TCP session. Because the ACK is without the SACK option when the gap exists, the speed of TCP transmission will be recovered rapidly.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2017Publication date: August 2, 2018Applicant: Futurewei Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Jing YU, Julia WANG, Yumin TANG

Patent number: 9924426Abstract: An apparatus, computer program, and method are provided for criteria-based conditional cell reselection. In operation, information is identified in connection with a mobile communication device being serviced by a first cell of a network utilizing a first frequency with a first priority. A determination is then made as to whether the information meets one or more criteria. Based on such determination, reselection is conditionally caused for the mobile communication device in connection with a second cell of the network utilizing a second frequency with a second priority.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2016Date of Patent: March 20, 2018Assignee: Futurewei Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Julia Wang, Limei Wang, Mark Ernest Newbury, SaiRamesh Nammi

Patent number: 9503986Abstract: Embodiments are provided for resolving, at a user equipment (UE), unnecessary frequent consecutive back and forth reselections between the same two or more network cells. In an embodiment method, upon detecting predefined criteria indicating reaching a threshold frequency of reselections between the same cells, the UE switches to a defined mobility state reducing the frequency of reselections between the same cells. In accordance with the defined mobility state, the method increases a waiting time for cell reselection. The predefined criteria includes detecting the UE in a defined Static-idle state, detecting a serving cell of the UE and a strongest neighbor cell having approximately equal signal quality for a defined duration or a defined number of consecutive measurements, and detecting a number of consecutive reselections between the same cells exceeding a defined minimum threshold.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2013Date of Patent: November 22, 2016Assignee: Futurewei Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Julia Wang, Ping Shi

Publication number: 20160182312Abstract: Peer-to-peer service agreements can be facilitated by a third party without the terms of the service agreement being brokered by the third-party. In one example, a user sends a service request to a network node maintained by the third-party. The third-party operator identifies candidate service providers registered to provide the requested service, and sends referrals to the identified candidates. The referrals may be sent to each candidate device without filtering the candidate devices based on their real-time locations. The referrals may prompt a service agreement to be independently established between operators of the requesting device and one of the candidate devices without brokering from the third-party.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 17, 2014Publication date: June 23, 2016Inventors: Yumin Tang, Julia Wang, April Trost, Limei Wang
