  • Publication number: 20200314449
Abstract: A sequence of point clouds is encoded as a video by an encoder and transmitted to a decoder which retrieves the sequence of point clouds. Visible points of a point cloud are iteratively projected on a projection map to determine a patch data item list. Image patches are generated and packed into a picture. Pictures and associated patch data item list are encoded in a stream. The decoding method decodes pictures and associated patch data item lists. Pixels of image patches comprised in pictures are un-projected according to data stored in associated patches. The methods have the advantage of encoding every point of point clouds in a manner avoiding artifacts and allowing decoding at video frame rate.

  • Publication number: 20200228777
Abstract: A sequence of three-dimension scenes is encoded as a video by an encoder and transmitted to a decoder which retrieves the sequence of 3D scenes. Points of a 3D scene visible from a determined point of view are encoded as a color image in a first track of the stream in order to be decodable independently from other tracks of the stream. The color image is compatible with a three degrees of freedom rendering. Depth information and depth and color of residual points of the scene are encoded in separate tracks of the stream and are decoded only in case the decoder is configured to decode the scene for a volumetric rendering.

  • Patent number: 10692336
Abstract: An encoder and encoding method map haptic effects for various haptic channels to a plurality of areas of a body model. The haptic channels represent temperature, vibration, or similar such effects for use by haptic actuators, for example. Each channel comprises signals to represent a timestamp, face locations and identifiers, and spatial and temporal resolution values to control effect resolutions for various parts of the body for a particular effect controlled by that channel. The haptic channels are multiplexed together to form a composite signal that can control various effects to a plurality of body locations.

  • Publication number: 20200154137
Abstract: A sequence of point clouds is encoded as a video by an encoder and transmitted to a decoder which retrieves the sequence of point clouds. Visible points of a point cloud are iteratively projected on projection maps according to at least two centers of projection, to determine a patch data item lists. One of the centers of projection is selected and corresponding image patches are generated and packed into a picture.

  • Patent number: 10536682
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for reproducing an item of video content filmed using a camera. An item of video content composed of sequences is developed and enhanced by commands applied to the camera at the time of filming. With a view to reproduction, the video content is divided into sequences. The commands applied to the camera are extracted for each sequence and make it possible to calculate at least one haptic actuator control parameter associated with this sequence. At the time of the reproduction of a sequence of the video content, at least one control parameter thus calculated controls at least one haptic actuator. In this way, the spectator perceives stimuli making it possible to enhance his perception of the video document during the reproduction. Advantageously, the player able to reproduce the enhanced content determines a cinematographic effect for a set of sequences from commands applied to the camera.

  • Publication number: 20190371051
Abstract: Method and device for generating a stream of data representative of a 3D point cloud. The 3D point cloud is partitioned into a plurality of 3D elementary parts. A set of two-dimensional 2D parametrizations is determined, each 2D parametrization representing one 3D part of the point cloud with a set of parameters. Each 3D part is represented as a 2D pixel image. A depth map and a color map are determined as a first patch atlas and a second patch atlas. A data stream is generated by combining and/or coding the parameters of the 2D parametrization, the first patch atlas, the second patch atlas and mapping information that links each 2D parametrization with its associated depth map and color map in respectively the first and second patch atlas.

  • Publication number: 20190344167
Abstract: A position and an orientation of a user in a virtual 3D scene is determined (22), an action is executed (24)in the virtual 3D scene for the user in function of the position and orientation of the user with respect to a given place, and a result of the action is outputted (25). For at least one event in the scene consisting in a presence of at least one determined virtual content, metadata linking the event(s) and at least one place of the event(s) are obtained (21). A given event and the given place linked by those metadata are determined (241), in function of the above position and orientation and of a relationship between that event and a user profile of the user. The action regarding the determined given event and place is executed.

  • Patent number: 10440446
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for generating haptic coefficients associated with an audiovisual document. Initially, data is extracted from an audio and/or video track and is used to calculate at least one first group of haptic coefficients from an autoregressive model applied to the read data. These haptic coefficients are designed to program a filter supplying at the output the control parameters for controlling at least one haptic actuator. Then, a “haptic” sequence of the audiovisual document is determined and calculated haptic parameters are associated with the determined sequence. In this manner, the haptic parameters enabling the control of one or more actuators are easily calculated and easily reproducible. Advantageously, the data used for the calculation is extracted from the selected sequence.

  • Publication number: 20180324240
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods, devices or streams for encoding, transmitting and decoding two-dimension point clouds. When encoding point clouds as frames, a large number of pixels are not used. A dense mapping operator optimizes the use of pixels but requires a lot of data to be encoded in the stream and its inverse operator is difficult to compute. A simplified mapping operator is generated according to a dense mapping operator and is stored as matrices of two-dimension coordinates representative of an unfolded grid which requires low space in the stream. The inverse operator is easy to generate according to the unfolded grid.
