Patent number: 7048578Abstract: The present invention is a tooless connector for mounting on a straight cut end of a coaxial shielded type cable. The connector can have a cylindrical housing with a first end for receiving the coaxial shielded cable and an oppositely positioned second end. A rear wall can be positioned in the interior of the cylindrical housing forming an abutment for the insertion of the coaxial cable. A terminal assembly including a ferrule assembly having at least one prong extending therefrom is positioned through the rear wall. The prong is positioned to contact a foil layer and/or a braided layer of the coaxial cable. A terminal extends through the center of the ferrule for receiving the center of the coaxial cable. A compression assembly is attached to the cylindrical housing to securely hold the coaxial cable after it has been inserted into the connector.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2004Date of Patent: May 23, 2006Assignee: Thomas & Betts International, Inc.Inventor: Julio F. Patent number: 6129317Abstract: An improved cable spacer for spacing a transmission cable or similar article from a support member such as a support wire is provided. The spacer includes a substantially continuous cable contacting surface and includes drainage holes for preventing water and ice accumulation in the interior portion of the spacer. The spacer may further include openings in the side walls thereof in communication with a passageway provided for passage of a cable tie used in conjunction therewith. Such openings permit accommodation of various sizes of transmission cables without added strain between the spacer and cable tie. A plurality of such spacers of the present invention can be used in a stacked configuration to accommodate any desired spacing between a transmission cable and support wire.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1996Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: Thomas & Betts International, Inc.Inventors: Julio F. Patent number: 6082577Abstract: An improved cable tie dispensing apparatus includes a cutting and feeding apparatus which advances and severs a cable tie from an elongate strip of cables ties for delivery to an automatic cable tie installation tool. The cutting and feeding apparatus provides an elongate platform for supporting a cable tie strip therealong and a severing location adjacent one end of the platform which is defined to support one cable tie. An alignment pilot is supported adjacent the severing location and is movable towards the severing location so as to separate the supported cable tie from the strip to which it is connected. The alignment pilot includes a punch for severing the web between adjacent cable ties upon movement of the pilot toward the severing location. A firing chamber is included which has an open face for insertion of a single cable tie therein. The open face is sealably closed by movement of the pilot toward the severing location.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1999Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: Thomas & Betts International Inc.Inventors: Timothy K. Patent number: 6019143Abstract: An improved orientation means for a cable tie delivering system is adapted to complement a cable tie delivery system and includes an elongated conduit for orientation of an elongated, generally planar cable tie therein. The elongated conduit orients either a symmetrical or a single-directional cable tie in a delivery hose extending between a cable tie application tool and a dispenser from which such a cable tie is ejected. The conduit achieves proper orientation of the cable tie by requiring the cable tie to bend as it travels from the dispenser to the tool. By confining the cable tie once it has achieved the desired orientation the conduit retains the cable tie therein for accurate delivery to the installation tool and proper application to a bundle of articles to be tied.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1998Date of Patent: February 1, 2000Assignee: Thomas & Betts International, Inc.Inventors: Greg Marik, Julio F. Rodrigues, John J. Students

Patent number: 5962811Abstract: An electrical splice enclosure for enclosing a splice of an electrical cable. The splice enclosure includes an enclosure housing. The housing is formed of a lower housing portion and a cover portion defining a bounded interior therein. The lower housing portion includes a bottom surface, an upwardly extending wall bounding the bottom surface and an open upper surface opposite the bottom surface. The lower housing portion further includes a cable entry opening through the wall for permitting entry of the cable into the lower housing portion. The cover portion is positionable over the open upper surface of the lower housing portion so as to enclose the cable splice within the enclosure housing. The cover portion and the wall each include an encapsulant fill opening for permitting the housing interior to be gravity filled with a curable encapsulant, with the housing being positioned in multiple different positions.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1995Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Assignee: Thomas & Betts CorporationInventors: Julio F.
