  • Patent number: 5830015
Abstract: A shielded electrical data connector terminates a shielded multiconductor cable. The data connector includes an insulative housing having a conductive housing shield therein. A contact holding member is accommodated in the connector housing and supports a row of plural spaced electrical contacts thereon. A contact shield is supported by the contact holding member. The contact shield has a shield extension extending between at least two of the contacts so as to reduce cross-talk as between the two contacts. • Patent number: 5681180
Abstract: An electrical connector provides for the termination of discrete insulated conductors of a multi-conductor cable. The connector includes an insulative connector housing supporting plural electrical contacts having insulation displacing contact portions. A conductor holding block is movably supported by the housing with respect to the insulation displacing contact portions. The conductor holding block includes contact slots for receipt of the insulation displacing contact portions. The conductor holding block further includes passages in communication with the contact slots for receipt of the conductors. The conductor holding block is movable between a conductor receiving position and a conductor termination position. The conductor holding block is continuously supported by the connector housing so as to define a conductor support position to temporarily support the conductors against the insulation displacing contact portions without effecting conductor termination.

  • Patent number: 5531606
Abstract: An electrical connector component assembly terminates discrete conductors of a multiconductor data cable. The component assembly includes an insulative component housing (122, 124) having a mating end for engagement with a mating electrical connection device and a cable receiving end for terminating the multiconductor cable. A plurality of electrical contacts (126, 128) are supported by the component housing. Each of the contacts has a conductor terminating end and a mating connection end. The contacts are supported in the component housing in a pair of horizontally extending, vertically spaced rows with each contact of one row being aligned with a respective contact of the other row. The contacts of one row are directly electrically shunted (126g) to the aligned contacts of the other row. Electrical shielding (138, 139) is disposed around the contacts and includes a shield extension (168) extending between at least two of the contacts.

  • Patent number: 5514007
Abstract: An electrical data connector includes cable strain relief for accommodating a cable of at least two differing diameters. A cable strain relief assembly frictionally secures either of the cables therein. The strain relief assembly includes a strain relief body including first and second cable channels for permitting accommodation alternatively of one of the at least two cables. A channel filler block is insertable into the first channel to render the first channel cable inaccessible and render exclusively the second channel accessible to cable passage. A strain relief plug works in cooperation with said strain relief body to secure the cable supported either in the first or second channel in strain relief fashion.

  • Patent number: 5445538
Abstract: An electrical connector is provided for the termination of jacketed multi-conductor electrical cable. The connector includes a connector housing defining a first bounded opening which permits passage of the cable therethrough. The cable strain relief device is positioned adjacent the first bounded opening of the housing. The cable strain relief device includes first and second hermaphroditic strain relief members for securing the cable therebetween. The first strain relief member is fixedly positioned within the housing and the second strain relief member is movably supported with respect to the first strain relief member. The first and second strain relief members define a fully bounded opening surrounding the cable. The first and second strain relief members are movable so as to reduce the size of the seconded bounded opening for frictionally securing the cable thereat.

  • Patent number: 5372513
Abstract: An electrical connector provides for termination of shielded electrical cable. The connector includes an electrically insulative housing supporting plural electrical contacts. A conductive contact shield is positioned within the housing for electrically shielding the contacts. The housing further includes a strain relief device operable to frictionally secure the cable to the housing. The ground clip is positioned within the strain relief device for engagement with the cable shield upon cable termination. The ground clip is also resiliently engageable with the contact shield upon insertion of the contact shield into the housing. The engagement of the contact shield with the ground clip establishes electrical continuity between the cable shield and the contact shield.

  • Patent number: 5254808
Abstract: An enclosure for an electrical terminal block includes a housing having a back wall and projecting side walls extending thereabout to form a bounded chamber. One side wall includes an opening formed therethrough for permitting passage of an electrical cable into the bounded chamber. A barrier member is supported by the side wall adjacent the opening. The barrier member includes a barrier wall at least partially surrounding the opening about a periphery thereof. The barrier member includes a pair of elongate oppositely directed deflectable fingers projecting inwardly from the barrier wall.
