  • Publication number: 20120088819
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for enhancing protein expression from an RNA viral vector and RNA viral vectors with enhanced protein expression capacity. The present inventors successfully increased the level of protein expression significantly by expressing the proteins fused with an AB5B protein from RNA viral vectors. Effective gene therapy, gene vaccination, monoclonal antibody preparation, or such can be achieved by using a gene transfer RNA viral vector of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20120087940
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for efficiently inducing anti-A? antibody and methods for preventing and treating Alzheimer's disease. The present inventors successfully induced anti-A? antibody in a highly efficient manner by administering an RNA viral vector that expresses a fusion protein between an AB5 toxin B subunit and an A? antigen peptide. Administration of the vector resulted in a significant increase of anti-A? antibody in plasma, and decrease in the A? level in brain tissues and decrease in the anti-A? antibody-positive area. The present invention enables more efficient vaccine gene therapy for preventing and treating Alzheimer's disease.

  • Publication number: 20110112834
Abstract: A communication method and terminal assist hearing and speech impaired persons. The communication method includes generating a text by combining at least one character input in a text call mode. The text is converted to a speech, and the converted speech is transmitted to a counterparty terminal. The communication terminal of the present invention is capable of converting the text input by the user to a speech signal for the counterparty terminal and converting the speech signal received from the counterparty terminal to a text such that it is possible for the user to conduct a communication with the counterparty regardless of whether the counterparty is a hearing or speech impaired or whether the counterparty's terminal supports the text call service, resulting in reduction of the text call service implementation complexity and improvement of user convenience.

  • Publication number: 20100209974
Abstract: The present inventors succeeded in producing non-replicating SeV vectors whose genomic RNAs lack all genes for the NP, P, and L proteins, which are RNP-constituting proteins. The present inventors confirmed that the NP/P/L-deficient SeV vectors carrying a marker gene such as GFP provide high productivity, and high transfer and expression efficiencies of foreign genes (high MOI infection is essential for achieving high expression levels). By lacking the L gene or two or more of the NP, P, and L genes, the vectors of the present invention enable lowering the level of virus-derived proteins expressed in host cells, thereby reducing the immunogenicity upon in vivo administration.

  • Patent number: 7289712
Abstract: Provided are a planar optical waveguide and a method of fabricating the same which is adapted to a planar optical component and an optical component for use in a optical communication. The planar optical waveguide includes: a lower cladding layer formed on a substrate, a core formed on the lower cladding layer, a dielectric layer covering the core, and an upper cladding layer formed on the lower cladding layer having the dielectric layer. By forming the dielectric layer having a low refractive index between the core and the clad, a difference of refractive indices between the core and the clad increases so that light is densely focused into the core, thereby forming a single mode having a strong energy to minimize a propagation loss.

  • Publication number: 20070105208
Abstract: The present invention provides minus-strand RNA viruses carrying a foreign gene that has a partial sequence corresponding to part of the minus-strand RNA virus E sequence and where the partial sequence has been altered. A foreign gene comprising such a partial E sequence is found to undergo mutations at high frequencies when the gene is carried by a minus-strand RNA virus. The generation of mutations in the gene carried by the minus-strand RNA virus can be prevented by altering the foreign gene sequence so as to not contain this sequence.
