  • Patent number: 8139819
Abstract: A computer (30) obtains a facial image acquired by picking up an image of a person subjected to image pickup from a camera (10), and estimates a facial expression of the person subjected to image pickup based on the obtained facial image. Next, the computer obtains an eye open level of the person subjected to image pickup based on the facial image, and sets a threshold of the eye open level based on the estimated facial expression of the person subjected to image pickup. When the eye open level exceeds the threshold, the computer (30) determines that the eye of the person subjected to image pickup is opened. Moreover, when the eye open level does not exceed the threshold, the computer determines that the eye of the person subjected to image pickup is closed.

  • Patent number: 8136311
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for mounting equipment or solar photovoltaic structures to roofs where the apparatus base plate engages the roof surface directly, creating a water resistant seal, without the need for flashing. The base plate upper surface includes an upwardly projected portion that is circumscribed by a groove. The base plate lower surface includes a counterbore. Both the counterbore and the groove are disposed to receive annular seals. A threaded fastener is received and seated the upwardly projected portion top surface and feeds through the counterbore, securing the base plate to the roof structure and creates a water resistant seal by compressing the lower annular seal and by creating surface-to-surface contact with the roof and portion of the base plate. An inwardly threaded cover portion engages the upwardly projected portion either directly or through an intermediary, creating a water resistant seal over the fastener.

  • Patent number: 8138427
Abstract: A printed circuit board and method of manufacturing the printed circuit board, including a first and second write wiring patterns, an end of a first line and an end of a second line of the first write wiring pattern are arranged on both sides of a third line of a second write wiring pattern. Circular connection portions are provided at the ends of the first line and the second line. Through holes are formed in portions of a cover insulating layer above the connection portions, respectively. First connecting layers made of copper, for example, are formed to fill the through holes of the cover insulating layer. A substantially rectangular second connecting layer made of copper, for example, is formed to integrally cover upper ends of the connecting layers. This causes the first and second lines to be electrically connected to each other through the first and second connecting layers.

  • Patent number: 8139157
Abstract: A video display apparatus generates luminance information for individual frames of a video signal from histograms of the luminance component of the video signal, and classifies the content of the video signal on the basis of this information. Color saturation information is also generated from color saturation histograms, and scene changes are detected. Video correction parameters and display control parameters are derived from the content classification and color saturation information. The video signal is corrected according to the video correction parameters, and displayed according to the display control parameters. Display characteristics suitable for the video content are thereby obtained. The parameters are changed when a scene change is detected, so that the viewer is not disturbed by the change in video display characteristics.

  • Patent number: 8139648
Abstract: A basic pattern generating unit 81 generates a film grain basic pattern 86 in which the histogram of random noise is substantially the same as the film grain basic pattern information 53. The film grain basic pattern 86 is of (64×64) pixels and an area of (16×16) pixels is cut out and supplied to a multiplier 84. Strength information 88 is generated based on film grain strength information 54 produced on the encoding side and an average value 87 of a pixel value in the area of (16×16) pixels of decoded image information 42. The strength of basic pattern 86 is adjusted by this strength information 88. Film grain image 89 whose strength is adjusted is added to the area of (16×16) pixels of the decoded image information 42 by an adder 85 by the unit of pixel.
