Network identifiers (IDs) of public land mobile networks (PLMNs) of all the network types supported by the mobile terminal are determined and added to an equivalent home public land mobile network (EHPLMN) list. If it finds a target PLMN that matches a network ID in the EHPLMN list when the mobile terminal arrives at a place of visit from a designated location and begins to search for networks, a communications connection is established between the mobile terminal and the target PLMN.
