  • Publication number: 20030063078
Abstract: An organic EL display device includes display pixels forming a display screen, scanning lines disposed along rows of the display pixels, signal lines disposed along columns of the display pixels, and a power supply section which supplies a power-supply voltage to the display pixels. Each of the display pixels includes a luminous element, a pixel switch which receives a video signal from a corresponding one of the signal lines in response to a scanning signal from a corresponding scanning line and a driving element which is connected between the luminous element and the power supply section to supply a driving current corresponding to the video signal from the pixel switch to the luminous element. Particularly, each luminous element is connected to the power supply section via a dimmer switch portion.

  • Publication number: 20030006977
Abstract: A flat-panel display device includes a matrix array of display pixels which respectively have memory elements, a vertical decoder which selectively designates row blocks of the display pixels, a horizontal decoder which selectively designates column blocks of the display pixels, a video RAM which stores image data respectively assigned to the memory elements, and a controller which controls the vertical and horizontal decoders to write the contents of the video RAM in units of blocks specified by row and column block addresses. The device further includes an interface which determines a rewriting range corresponding to at least one block of the display pixels including display pixels for part of the image data when the part is updated in the video RAM, and supplies to the controller the image data assigned to each block included in the rewriting range.

  • Patent number: 6437775
Abstract: A flat display unit has a display area including scanning lines, signal lines, switching elements arranged in the vicinity of intersections of the scanning lines and the signal lines, and display pixels connected to corresponding switching elements. The display area is divided into small regions, each of which includes a set of signal lines and signal line driving circuits, each of which is arranged to correspond to one of the small regions, for supplying a picture signal to each set of signal lines in parallel. At least one of the signal line driving circuits has a shift register for transferring a start pulse in a predetermined direction in a predetermined timing, a sampling circuit for sampling an input picture signal to supply the picture signal to a corresponding one of the signal lines on the basis of an output of each stage of the shift register, and a control circuit for inverting the transfer direction of the start pulse.

  • Publication number: 20020057235
Abstract: A display device includes a display panel and a flexible printed circuit board. The display panel includes a plurality of pixels which have an insulation substrate, a plurality of first electrodes disposed on the insulation substrate in a matrix form, a second electrode provided opposite to the first electrodes and an optical modulation layer held between the first and second electrodes, and driving circuits integrated on the insulation substrate to drive the pixels. A connecting portion of the printed circuit board is fixed on a main surface of the insulation substrate to supply electrical signals to the display panel. The flexible printed circuit board is provided on a non-display side of the display panel and a part of the other portion than the connecting portion is fixed on the display panel.

  • Patent number: 5723908
Abstract: A multilayer wiring structure comprising a substrate, two line layers, and an interlayer insulating film. The first line layer consists of strip-shaped power/ground lines which extend parallel to one another. The second line layer is located above or below the first line layer, extends substantially parallel to the first line layer. The second line layer consists of strip-shaped signal lines which extend parallel to one another and at an angle to the strip-shaped power/ground lines of the first line layer in a skewed position.
