  • Publication number: 20030031469
Abstract: A video recording/playback device comprising a video recording means having, at least, a first moving picture mode, a second moving picture mode and a first still picture mode and the device being able to record a video signal in selecting a mode among the above-mentioned 3 modes. The second moving picture mode is called a portrait mode and in this mode, in comparison with the first moving picture mode, the number of frames per second is made smaller and the number of bits allotted to a frame is made larger; thereby enough number of bits can be allotted to an frame, which makes it possible to obtain a high quality portrait with desirable expression.

  • Patent number: 6456330
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a remote-controlled transmitter capable of properly and easily transferring information and an information transfer system using the remote-controlled transmitter. The remote-controlled transmitter is directed toward an information output apparatus and a capture button is operated in this state. A control code signal MB is outputted from a command generator and a remote-control signal RM is outputted from a signal output unit based on the control code signal MB. Based on the remote-control signal RM, information is outputted from the information output apparatus as a modulated sound SO. The sound SO is gathered by a microphone to obtain a signal Smic. The signal Smic is demodulated by a decoder and the demodulated signal is converted into a control code signal MS by a converter. The converted control code signal MS is stored in a memory.

  • Publication number: 20020083324
Abstract: A digital watermark is embedded into content for implementing copyright protection. The content is then distributed over a first transmission channel. A digital watermark signal to be superimposed on the content is transmitted over an encrypted second transmission channel. When the digital watermark is required, it is superimposed on the content and is then transmitted via, for example, an analog connection terminal. Alternatively, the digital watermark is decrypted and is obtained over the second transmission channel. The digital watermark obtained via the first transmission channel is then subtracted from the content, thereby removing the digital watermark. It is impossible for a third party to extract the digital watermark transmitted via the second transmission channel in meaningful form, thereby protecting the content from illegal use.

  • Publication number: 20020078356
Abstract: A calculator system for performing duplication of contents does not necessarily perform screening, i.e., electronic watermark detection, rather, contents copy control information can be obtained otherwise. For example, in the event of copying a CD regarding which it is known beforehand that there is no electronic watermark inserted in the contents, the electronic watermark detection processing itself can be skipped as long as the CD can be confirmed to be such, thereby reducing the amount of time necessary for copying. Electronic watermark inspecting processing with heavy computation loads is performed vicariously for judging whether or not duplication of contents is permissible.

  • Patent number: 6266480
Abstract: A digital satellite broadcasting system for providing copy protection or so-called macrovision signals which hinder the recording of designated picture signals and which do not adversely affect the performance of a television receiver. Such satellite broadcasting system may include a broadcasting station, a satellite, and a plurality of satellite receivers each located at a subscriber's premises and coupled to the subscriber's television receiver and recording/reproducing device (VTR). Parameters pertaining to a number of types of television receivers may be transmitted from the satellite broadcasting station by way of the satellite to the satellite receivers. Upon receiving such transmitted parameters, each respective satellite receiver obtains the parameters associated with the respective television. Such obtained parameters are utilized in forming a macrovision signal which is combined with video data and supplied to the respective television receiver.

  • Patent number: 6238488
Abstract: A cleaning gas is supplied into a processing chamber defined by a processing vessel included in a film forming system, and the temperature of a gas contained in the processing vessel is measured continuously for a predetermined time by a gas temperature measuring means disposed in the processing vessel. The temperature measured by the gas temperature measuring means rises gradually while the cleaning gas flowing through the processing chamber is reacting with an unnecessary film deposited on the surfaces of the processing vessel. A cleaning operation terminating point is determined on the basis of the time-varying measured temperature of the gas measured by the gas temperature measuring means. Preferably, the cleaning operation terminating point determining means determines that the cleaning operation is to be terminated at a time point a certain time after the variation of the measured temperature past a peak.

  • Patent number: 6222978
Abstract: A video signal copy guard system in which a special color burst signal (or “copy prohibition signal”) is inserted into the video signal to be copy protected so that the protected signal includes both a special color burst signal and a normal color burst signal. The special color burst signal is placed adjacent to the normal color burst signal, and its phase, frequency, and/or amplitude is varied with respect to the normal color burst signal. The special color burst signal interferes with the normal color burst signal when an analog VCR attempts to process the protected signal. Thereby, preventing unauthorized dubbing of the protected signal.

  • Patent number: 6115341
Abstract: The present invention enables to record and reproduce a digital signal in a high quality picture mode and in a long time mode with different compression rations on a single disc-shaped recording medium. An output from a tuner 11 is supplied to a sound/data isolation circuit 12 where a video signal, an audio signal, and an accompanying data are isolated. The video signal is supplied via an A/D conversion circuit 14, a Y/C isolation circuit 15, a color demodulation circuit 16, a pre-filter 18, and a resampling circuit 19 to a compression circuit 20 where the video signal is compressed. The audio signal is supplied via an A/D conversion circuit 34, a pre-filter 38, and a resampling circuit 39 to a compression circuit 40 where the audio signal is compressed. Here, the compression ratio is switched by a control signal which specifies the high quality picture/long time mode.

  • Patent number: 5815530
Abstract: A delta modulation type data converter is adapted to carry out signal processing by sequentially comparing in cycles an inputted signal with a reference voltage set according to the results of previous comparisons and includes a plurality of current sources, switch circuits for setting a current value by appropriately selecting one or more of these current sources, an integrator circuit for generating the reference voltage according to a specified current value, and a control circuit for controlling the switch circuits to make an appropriate selection of these current sources according to the result of a comparison between the reference voltage and the inputted analog signal. The control circuit controls the switch circuits such that, if the result of comparison is the same as in the precious cycle, a selection from the current sources is made such that the current value will be increased, provided such selection is possible.
