A femto Access Service Network-Gateway (ASN-GW) controls at least one femto BS, manages scan information that an MS served by a macro BS requires in measuring at least one signal strength by scanning the at least one femto BS, creates the scan information in a format of Downlink Channel Descriptor (DCD) and Uplink Channel Descriptor (UCD) information, and transmits the scan information to the macro BS. The macro BS periodically broadcasts neighbor BS information of the femto BS, which includes the scan information, to MSs in its coverage using a Neighbor Advertisement (NBR-ADV) message.

    Abstract: A system and method for performing paging in an area where a macro Base Station (BS) and a femto Access Services Network (ASN) are linked in a mobile network are provided. The method includes, during handover of a Mobile Station (MS) between a macro ASN and a femto ASN, a first gateway of a current ASN acquires paging group information of a previous ASN. Upon request for paging from the MS in the current ASN, the first gateway requests a BS of the previous ASN to transmit paging information to the MS based on the paging group information of the previous ASN. By doing so, paging success rate may be improved for an MS in coverage of a macro ASN linked to a femto BS, and the high paging success rate may be guaranteed regardless of whether the handover scheme is a controlled handover scheme or an uncontrolled handover scheme.

    Abstract: A handoff method between a source network to which a terminal is connected in order of a Base Station (BS) and an Access Service Network (ASN), and a target network to which the terminal is connected in order of a Packet Data Service Node (PDSN), a Packet Control Function (PCF) and an Access Network (AN). The terminal sends a handoff request message with AN information of the target network to the ASN via the BS. The ASN forwards the handoff request message to the PCF via the PDSN using the AN information. Upon receipt of the handoff request message, the PCF sends a request for session information to the ASN via the PDSN. The PDSN sends a request for context information to the ASN. Upon receipt of the session information request and the context information request, the ASN transfers the context information to the PDSN and transfers the session information to the AN via the PDSN and the PCF.

Particularly, the first VLD buffer is used for directly storing an input stream in bytes, and the second VLD buffer is used for reading and storing the bitstream from the first VLD buffer, reading the bitstream with the required bit length of the VLD by bit unit, and outputting it to the VLD. As a result, 32-bit data can be processed at once. In addition, the double VLD buffer structure also reduces the number of accesses to the VLD buffer and thus, the repetitive memory access procedure can be simplified for the VLD.
