  • Patent number: 9773045
Abstract: Search results may include both objective results and person results. In one example, a search query is evaluated to determine whether it is the type of query that a user might want to ask to a friend. If the query is of such a type, then the search engine may examine a social graph to determine which friends of the user who entered the query may have information that is relevant to answering the query. If such friends exist, then the friends may be displayed along with objective search results, along with an explanation of each friend's relevance to the query. Clicking on a person in the results may cause a conversation to be initiated with that person, thereby allowing the user who entered the query to ask his or her friend about the subject of the query.

  • Publication number: 20170243397
Abstract: Described herein are methods and systems for closed-form 3D model generation of non-rigid complex objects from scans with large holes. A computing device receives (i) a partial scan of a non-rigid complex object captured by a sensor coupled to the computing device; (ii) a partial 3D model corresponding to the object, and (iii) a whole 3D model corresponding to the object, wherein the partial 3D scan and the partial 3D model each includes one or more large holes. The device performs a rough match on the partial 3D model and changes the whole 3D model using the rough match to generate a deformed 3D model. The device refines the deformed 3D model using a deformation graph, reshapes the refined deformed 3D model to have greater detail, and adjusts the whole 3D model according to the reshaped 3D model to generate a closed-form 3D model that closes holes in the scan.

  • Patent number: 9723588
Abstract: A method for determining a location of a wireless transmitter includes: receiving, at data processing hardware, receiver signals from corresponding receivers located within an observation area; estimating, by the data processing hardware, the location of the rogue transmitter; and reporting the estimated location of the rogue transmitter to a remote system in communication with the data processing hardware. Estimating the location of a rogue transmitter includes, for each receiver, determining a transmitter location contour about the receiver based on the corresponding at least one receiver signal and one or more propagation path loss functions and identifying an intersection of the transmitter location contours of the receivers as the estimated location of the rogue transmitter. Each propagation path loss function is based on terrain information corresponding to the observation area.

  • Patent number: 9715761
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for generating a three-dimensional (3D) model of a fully-formed object represented in a noisy or partial scene. An image processing module of a computing device receives images captured by a sensor. The module generates partial 3D mesh models of physical objects in the scene based upon analysis of the images, and determines a location of at least one target object in the scene by comparing the images to one or more 3D reference models and extracting a 3D point cloud of the target object. The module matches the 3D point cloud of the target object to a selected 3D reference model based upon a similarity parameter, and detects one or more features of the target object. The module generates a fully formed 3D model of the target object using partial or noisy 3D points from the scene, extracts the detected features of the target object and features of the 3D reference models that correspond to the detected features, and calculates measurements of the detected features.

  • Publication number: 20170140075
Abstract: A method for modeling air pollution includes receiving a weather model for a particular geographic region. Satellite-observed pollution observation data over the geographic region is received. A physical dispersion model for pollution over the geographic region is generated using the received weather model. The received satellite-observed pollution observation data is interpolated to the generated physical model. The interpolated satellite-observed pollution observation data and the generated physical model are combined using weighted coefficients for both the interpolated satellite-observed pollution observation data and the generated physical model. The weighted coefficients are calculated in accordance with a relative error in both the physical dispersion model and the satellite-observed pollution observation data.
