    Abstract: An online system receives multiple candidate components for including in content items to be presented to online system users. Upon identifying an opportunity to present content to a subject user of the online system, the online system dynamically generates an optimal content item for presentation to the subject user that includes one or more candidate components. Candidate components included in the optimal content item are selected by predicting an affinity of the subject user for each candidate component. The affinity of the subject user for a candidate component may be predicted using a machine-learned model that is trained using historical performance information about content items including the candidate component that were presented to viewing users of the online system having at least a threshold measure of similarity to the subject user. Components of content items used to train the model may be selected using a heuristic (e.g., Thompson sampling).

    Abstract: The present invention provides a free-cut warp-knitted elastic fabric and a method for production thereof. The method uses a first guide bar and a second guide bar of a tricot warp knitting machine for knitting, wherein a non-elastic yarn passes across a guide needle of the first guide bar and forms the surface of the fabric by knitting via two needles in a 1×1 warp plain stitch loop mode, and an elastic yarn passes across a guide needle of the second guide bar and forms the inside of the fabric by knitting with the aforementioned non-elastic yarn in the same direction via two needles in a 1×1 double warp plain stitch loop mode. Finally the fabric which has good resilience, can be arbitrarily cut, and has low raveling property, good elasticity and high snagging level is obtained.

    Abstract: An online system determines an estimated conversion rate for sponsored content items placed on content publishers and on the online system. The estimated conversion rate can be determined by a machine learning model trained using data describing content campaigns, content publishers, and online system users. This data is collected by the online system from content publishers and/or content campaigns that report conversion rates to the online system. By determining a ratio of estimated conversion rates with third party content on the content publisher against those on the online system, the online system can determine a publisher quality score for that content publisher. The online system uses the publisher quality score to normalize third party value contributions toward placing sponsored content on content publishers and the online system. Thus, disparities in the intrinsic value across publishers are diminished as third party value contributions are normalized based on the publisher conversion rates.

The geographic drive is usually on a different access network in a dynamic location such as a hotspot or a fixed location such as broadband cable or DSL. The local computer is specially programmed to allow selection of the geographic target drive, pack information comprising cookies and a URL, and sends it to the remote geographic drive computer, where it may act as a proxy to cause downloading from the content server to the geographic drive on the remote site computer.

    Abstract: A public wireless LAN permits receipt of non-authentication traffic, such as access information requests, from a mobile wireless communications device prior to device authentication by partially opening a controlled port within an access point. The wireless LAN re-directs such non-authentication traffic received at the AP from the mobile wireless communications to a local web server. The local web server provides reply to the mobile wireless communications device, enabling a determination by the device whether or not to request access. The device seeks access by way of an access request received at the AP. In response, the AP re-directs the access request through an uncontrolled port in the AP to an access server that authenticates device. Upon successful device authentication, the AP fully opens its controlled port to permit the exchange of traffic through that port with the mobile wireless communications device.
