    Abstract: A flat panel display device having an improved encapsulation structure includes a glass substrate; a light emission unit formed on the glass substrate; an encapsulation substrate formed on the glass substrate; and frit sealing a space between the glass substrate and the cover layer. The encapsulation unit includes a metal layer formed of a metallic material and a cover layer stacked on the metal layer and formed of a glass material in order to cover the light emission unit. In the above encapsulation structure, pressure resistance and vapor permeability resistance of a flat panel device may be improved and thus deterioration of a light emission unit due to permeation of moisture may be prevented. Also, heat radiation capacity may be improved and thus deterioration in performance of a product may be prevented.

Barriers may include a permeation prevention barrier, a voltage contact portion, and a blocking layer. A permeation prevention barrier includes contact portions where a barrier layer having a lower permeability than a passivation layer penetrates through the passivation layer. A voltage contact portion penetrates the passivation layer so that a signal supply line contacts a conductive material. A blocking layer covers a wall, a planarization layer, and an inorganic insulation layer, and has a lower permeability than the planarization layer, the wall, and the inorganic insulation layer. The permeation prevention barrier, the voltage contact portion, and the blocking layer may be used in various combinations.

The OLED display reduces air and moisture penetration of the organic light emitting member or the electrodes using heat conductive particles, and quickly discharges the heat generated from the organic light emitting member or the electrode.
