  • Patent number: 8288850
Abstract: A method for packaging micromachined devices fabricated by MEMS and semiconductor process is disclosed in this invention. The method employed etching technique to etch a trench surrounding the micromachined components on each chip of the first wafer down to the bottom interconnection metal layer. The said trench can accommodate the solder of flip-chip packaging. On each chip of the second wafer, or called as the second chip, a surrounding copper pillar wall corresponding to the trench on the first chip is deposited. By wafer-level packaging, the trench on the first chip is aligned to the pillar wall, and then bonded together with elevated temperature. The face-to-face chamber formed between two chips can allow the movement of the micromachined structures. Further, the signal or power connections between two chips can be established by providing several discrete pillar bumps.

  • Patent number: 7742633
Abstract: An apparatus and method that uses at least six digital cameras to capture images of the foot, can reconstruct the 3D model of the foot rapidly. Users can only wear elastic socks, which have specially coded multicolored stripes or spots, and stands on the transparent plate of a platform. First from two parallel cameras under the transparent plate, the 3D contour about the sole of the foot can be computed and reconstructed through stereosis algorithm. Similarly, from the other four cameras at least around the upper part of the foot, four or more curved surfaces are combined to reconstruct 3D contour of the upper portion of the foot. Combining the bottom contours and upper contours of the foot the complete 3D foot model can be obtained.

  • Publication number: 20090112115
Abstract: An apparatus applied to detect the human breath gas, including a substrate which carries a circuit module, a CNT-based (carbon nanotube) gas sensing element, a wireless transmission/receiver module, and a power supplier, etc. and a clamp structure that could be clamped on the columella between the nostrils. The detectable gas also includes the bioaerosol in the gas. The CNT-based gas sensors react with the breath air and detect whether the specific gas and bioaerosol in the air or not while breathing in and out and the temperature of the air could be measured. This invention can measure the electric response of the CNT-based gas sensor, process the signal by the circuit module and transmit the processed signal to the wireless receiver by wireless transmission/receiver module. And the wireless signal receiver will differentiate the species, concentration and temperature of the gas and provide a warning signal while the specific gas or bioaerosol is detected.

  • Publication number: 20080050769
Abstract: This invention disclosed a method to detect bioparticles in the biological samples (stools, urine, or other body fluids). Bioparticles (e.g. virus, bacteria, and cells) often serve as carrier/indicator of pathogens and/or toxins. The method employs a substrate with interlaced comb-like electrodes on which a certain amount of sample mixed with antibodies-coated gold nanoparticles is dropped. Then the alternative signals with specific frequency bands are applied on the comb-like electrodes so that under such a DEP force the Au-modified bioparticles can be separated from the other constituents of the sample and can be absorbed effectively onto the edges of the electrodes. After rinsed with water to remove the residual sample several times, the device will be measured for the impedance of the absorbed bioparticles on the edges of the electrodes. The measured impedance deviation in comparison with that of the reference empty comb-like electrodes will quantify the amount of the absorbed bioparticles.

  • Publication number: 20070184579
Abstract: This invention is characteristic of combining an electroplating process with a polishing process to uniformly fabricate multi-layer flip chip copper pillar. All kinds of flip chip copper pillar with varied shapes and sizes are able to be defined by using multi-layer photolithography process commonly utilized in the semiconductor processes. After that, use both exposure and alignment procedures to accurately define multi-layer photoresist's patterns on the substrate. Some designated metallic materials are then electroplated on those completed well-defined patterns during the last photolithography process by means of an electroplating process. A polishing process follows the electroplating to level the rugged solder bumps, resulted from the impact on the certain changeable and inevitable electroplating parameters.

  • Publication number: 20070134866
Abstract: The invention disclosed a method for integrating CMOS circuit chips with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) into array-type sensors with signal processors enclosed. The method provides low-temperature and wafer-level fabrication processes including dripped a drop of dispersed CNTs solution on the top of CMOS chip, use micro probe card to contact with pairs of pads, with a function generator to generate dielectrophoresis (DEP) signal and with a lock-in amplifier to measure impedance value simultaneously. According to the impedance measurement it can detect the number of CNTs fixed on pair of pads. Only if the number of CNTs on the top of pair of pads were not expected, it would readjust the frequency of alternating current to the range of negative DEP force and repel CNTs from the top of pair of pads. Repeat positive DEP signal to attach CNTs until the number of CNTs as demand, then hold the DEP force until CNTs solution evaporated to make a well-contact between CNTs and pads.

  • Publication number: 20070075463
Abstract: The method and apparatus of the invention is used to heat the surface of the mold insert or cavity by high frequency current. There are holes near the heated surface in the mold and the coils can be installed into the holes. The coils surround the heated surface and are conducted with high frequency current. Due to the directional change of the current, the blocks that are surrounded by the coils will be heated by the hysteresis losses and the eddy-current losses. The surface of the mold insert or cavity will be heated rapidly. There are cooling holes set near the heated surface or beside the coil-pipe. The cooling liquid or air can flow in the holes to carry out extra energy and the temperature of the mold will be decreased. The position of the cooling holes, the flow speed and temperature deviation of the liquid and air will influence the temperature of the mold. The method and apparatus will improve the quality of the thermal-plastic products and elevate the number of the cavity.
