  • Patent number: 8689262
Abstract: A broadcast receiving device capable of easily setting area information. A control unit of a DVR transmits an acquisition request for area information to a TV. When the control unit receives a response to the acquisition request from the TV, the control unit extracts area information from the received response and performs a channel presetting using the extracted area information. A control unit of the TV has area information stored therein. When the control unit receives an acquisition request for area information from the DVR, the control unit transmits, as a response to the request, the stored area information to the DVR.

  • Patent number: 8547631
Abstract: It is desirable to provide a semiconductor optical amplifier from which it becomes able to obtain a higher output power. A semiconductor optical amplifier in comprises an active wave guiding layer which comprises a passive core region that is formed of a semiconductor, and active cladding regions that are located at both sides of the passive core region and each of that is comprised of an active layer which is formed of a semiconductor and which has an index of refraction to be lower than that of the passive core region, wherein a light is wave guided with being amplified in the active wave guiding layer. Moreover, it is desirable for the active wave guiding layer to be formed of a compound semiconductor, and to be formed by integrating the passive core region and the active cladding regions to be monolithic on to a substrate that is formed of a compound semiconductor by making use of a process of a butt joint growth.

  • Patent number: 8385379
Abstract: A semiconductor device of the invention is formed so that n-type InP current blocking layers enter the inside of p-type InP cladding layers, i.e., the n-type current blocking layers ride over the upper part of the p-type InP cladding layers, so that a distance between the n-type InP current block layers composing a current blocking region is narrower than a width of the p-type cladding layers contacting with the n-type InP current blocking layers. Thereby, the semiconductor device whose leak current in the current blocking region may be reduced which permits high-output and high-temperature operations may be readily fabricated.

  • Publication number: 20120280802
Abstract: In one aspect, when a user directs a remote controller (13) toward a television set (11), causing the remote controller (13) and the television set (11) to enter the wireless communication region of each other, the remote controller (13) and the television set (11) establish a wireless link to each other. When the user directs the remote controller (13) toward an air conditioner (12), causing the remote controller (13) and the air conditioner (12) to enter the wireless communication region of each other, the remote controller (13) and the air conditioner (12) establish a wireless link to each other. The remote controller (13) and the television set (11) are out of the wireless communication region of each other at this point, and the wireless link between the two is thus disconnected.

  • Patent number: 8307059
Abstract: A network system according to an implementation of the present invention involves: determining whether or not a matching address is found by comparing (i) an apparatus address, of an apparatus connected to an HDMI network, which is obtained via the HDMI network with (ii) an apparatus address, of an apparatus connected to another network, which is obtained via the other network (S44). Here, the matching address represents a match between the apparatuses addresses. When determining that the matching address is found, the implementation of the present invention involves determining that the terminal apparatus having the matching address is connected to a control apparatus via both of the HDMI network and the other network (S46).

  • Patent number: 8284094
Abstract: To easily ensure that appropriate recognition information is used. A remote control system (1) includes a DVR (13) and a remote control (11) that controls the DVR (13) via a wireless communication path. The remote control (11) which is one apparatus out of the DVR (13) and the remote control (11) obtains, by a wireless reception unit (114), recognition information used by the apparatus to uniquely recognize the other apparatus, via another communication path (a communication path through a TV (12)) different from the wireless communication path connecting the apparatus and the other apparatus. When a connected apparatus recognized via the wireless communication path is identified by the obtained recognition information, the remote control (11) sets, by a control circuit (115), the connected apparatus as the DVR (13) which is the other apparatus to enable communication with the connected apparatus.
